StarterSeeds performance update is live!
Finally started learning to use Xcode Instruments and wow - found so many areas to optimize. If you’ve noticed any lag, especially with the game and photo library, this update should help.

A small but meaningful ask.
Book Tracker is an indie app, no big team, no marketing budget, just me building something I hope readers love. If it has been useful to you, leaving a review on the App Store and recommending it to a friend is the single best way to help this project grow.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.

Time for an updated #introduction! I'm Justin, indie app developer since 2010, lifelong musician and photographer. I make a sheet music reading app called #forScore. Born in South Africa, raised in California, longtime PNW native now living in Palm Springs and Las Vegas. Multiple passports, multiple names, not a spy. Once described as “he lives everywhere and nowhere.”

If you haven’t checked out @couchapp in a while, you should! It’s continued to get better and better over time and is a solid full-featured #ReadLater solution for #Apple devices. I’ve been bouncing around solutions and think this is where I’m going to store my stuff. https://couchreader.app/features #indieApps #apps

RE: https://todon.eu/@josejfernandez/116257480039489485
I do not use AI tools for my hobby project @ChronoLink, but I haven't made a big deal out of it - yet!
Today, thanks to this post by @josejfernandez, I found out about the "human.json" protocol: a way to mark websites as 100% human-made - and somewhat ironically, it's designed to be machine-readable to help with discovery, and potentially building a web of trust.
In addition to adding that to my site, I quickly made a "No AI" info page using a nice badge by @aimeecozza:
https://www.chronolink.app/ai/
Also, in my human.json file, I vouch for (link to) both Jose and Beto Dealmeida, the guy who came up with the idea.

Private mentions are starting to look really good in #FediReader
Hoping to add a few more tweaks before the next release
-
Currently bouncing between iOS dev in Codex and web dev on Cursor having to switch up my terminology from SwiftUI to CSS for styling
Giving me whiplash

-
My workflow between Codex and Linear is pretty cool, I have it set up so that it makes sub-issues if, in developing for this one issue we run into other ones that end up getting wrapped up into this branch
All of which ends up linking back to GitHub and is completely visible to you all
Basically allows auto-documentation of what's been done so I can just focus on making sure things look and feel good to use

I built https://theapplottery.com to help indie devs get traction and reviews.
Getting someone to review your app can feel like pulling teeth, so the idea is simple: devs help devs. Submit your app and each cycle a random app gets featured.
Hoping if enough apps get added organically, the reach grows beyond just the developers submitting.
Would love feedback!

@dale Well I guess the tiny company I founded to run my hobby project is not exactly "the software industry", but it _is_ software and in its small niche, people find it useful:
With @ChronoLink, I provide a flexible calendar synchronization service that helps people juggle multiple calendar accounts and avoid overbooking.
It features a permanently free plan that is not crippled regarding functionality. Also, I try to make the paid plans as affordable as possible because in my opinion, competitors are totally overpriced.
To me, it is more important that this service exists than it is to cover its operational and other costs quickly. I'm also toying with ideas like regional pricing (shout out to @fontwerk who also do that) and free premium plans for community organizers and others who work for public benefit.

It's kinda funny seeing #Codex and #Cursor going "screw this I'm using #UIKit / #AppKit" when building
Like, I've explicitly told it to prefer #SwiftUI because that's more what I know (though I was certified in UIKit)
Not even the agents will stick to it

Super interested in these Social Web “adapter” apps where you can log in with a single #SocialMedia account and have different experiences across them
To me, it feels like a simpler option than constantly making new accounts across the #SocialWeb
One identity, one social graph, one presence
Anyway, while I’ve got #FediReader, #BestOMasto from @matt_birchler is another great example of this concept
-
The latest build of #FediReader is out featuring some UI improvements and some fixes to read later
