Someone send me link to probably new-ish project called "Pressdeck" that seems to be competition for #ImpressKit.

Someone perhaps thought that I am raking in lots of €€€€ 😀

I checked it out and while I don't want to scream "copycat!" it seems my project was perhaps an inspiration 🤔

For example the main press kit layout with the left sidebar:

I think unless you are HTML/CSS wizard, then using my project #ImpressKit to create your app press kit is the fastest way.

I am quite confident it should save you at least $3 of time each month which is the rough monthly cost after long trial. 🙂

And as Craig said in older post, having a press kit might be the difference between getting an article/mention for your app or not.

I had quite a lot of "spam" #ImpressKit registrations lately so I tried adding my own "captcha" 😅

Basically the register form is now bit harder. Let's see if it has any effect.

I am planning to raise #ImpressKit prices a bit for new users to make the project at least somewhat sustainable and also to account for new features and the fact that $33 in 2021 isn't the same as in 2024..

Anyway, since I have 1-month trial I am thinking whether I shouldn't announce this in advance so folks don't see the old price when starting trial and then get the higher one? 😬

On the other hand announcing price change might just seem like a shady marketing tactic 🙃

And thanks to idea from @ricobeck, each Press Kit now has "secondary accent" color you can customize to replace the blue color.

After considering my options, I have landed on "opt-in migration" with page that explains what is this about and has single button.

New users will already have the new "parser" enabled.

Will probably reduce the amount of text 😬

I am preparing to migrate to different #Python #Markdown package for #ImpressKit so I can make use of custom extensions.

I am bit afraid since this may change core behavior. Does anyone have any hints what to watch out for? 😬

Also if you are using ImpressKit and have some less used Markdown syntax in your press kit, feel free to send it my way so I can test it behaves the same for both packages 🙂

Thankfully I had practice from the past and notes how to configure all the stuff.

Contabo has another downtime without a word on their status page 🤪 Currently down 2 hours and counting.

So that is also why my projects like iOSFeeds, Django Feeds and Django Blogs are down.

Found a tutorial about extending Markdown Python library with custom processor and thought I could finally have proper YouTube support in #ImpressKit (with preview, embed code etc)...

Turns out, there are TWO Python packages. I found tutorial for "markdown" but I am using "markdown2" where extensions work totally different 🙃

Finally got round to creating a press kit for @Rewardme. Given that I'm often asking others if they have a press kit, I should have done this long ago .

You can now add your own contacts (visible only to you) to make sure to not forget anyone when sending out new Press release.

These contacts are also available on the "Distribute" page to easily start new email with mailto link 🙂

I am thinking whether changing #ImpressKit price makes sense.

The original $33 (+ tax in some regions) was based on the first version that did not have Press Release supports nor the media contacts and other stuff.

Since IK is pretty niche, higher price would perhaps make it more sustainable for me.

Anyone has thoughts? What would be "fair" yearly price for this?

I was collecting which journalists are looking for iOS 17 Interactive Widgets and yesterday decided to share it with #ImpressKit users as ad-hoc "benefit".

Since I did not have any system in place, I ran query to get users active in the last month and sent them a makeshift email 😬

I was a bit afraid sending unsolicited message but the response (so far) has been only very positive 😌
