Warm thanks to all the participants and co-organizers for making the hackathon a great event! ❤️

Here is an example of how an internet shutdown in Iraq based on IODA data sounds like: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Z1TFc1AyqI4

During the hackathon, our colleague Arturo created "The Sound of Internet Shutdowns": a sonification project which transforms some of the features of the IODA dataset into synthesized sounds.

The hackathon participants worked on using OONI data to investigate IPv6 connectivity, data triangulation to infer censorship or shutdown events, and on correlating alarms across multiple datasets.
We were very impressed with the results produced by the participants! ❤️

Last month, in collaboration w/ ISOC, M-Lab, Censored Planet, and IODA, we co-hosted an internet measurement hackathon alongside the Internet Measurement Conference (IMC) 2023! 🐙
We just published a blog post sharing the cool projects that came out of the hackathon: https://ooni.org/post/imc-hackathon-results-2023/ 💫

Farewell to Leeds! Fun conference, and I'll miss Kapow Coffee and The Ship pub (est. 1755). Both are hidden away in alleys off Lands Lane downtown.
If you're at #imc2023 my talk resetting the history of the ROTAS/SATOR square to include the key Coptic tradition should be available online.

tl;dr:
- SfM is not solved
- global desc similarity is hard
- orientation invariance for SuperGlue is easy
- PixSfM is good idea, but need follow-ups
- KeyNetAffNet

One of my favourite events that I've done at the International Medieval Congress - a roundtable discussion on the Middle Ages in Modern Games, chaired brilliantly by Mariana Lopez and with Katherine Lewis, Thom Gobbitt, and Blair Apgar in the discussion.
Our discussion was wide but included routes for historians to engage with game developers and communities and whether the high medieval period's centrality to nation-making makes it less used in RPGs!

The #IMC2023 test of #LangobardRPG is set up and underway -going nicely so far!- but would love another player or three 😁
If you want to join, we're having a pause and reconvening at ca. 19:00. Still in the Old Bar, in the alcove by the door to the outside area!

First day of the International Medieval Congress! My stuff is Weds and Tues, so today is a fairly quiet day of poking my nose into interesting looking panels to see what's going on. I think I'm going to have to take the week pacing myself given how frantic everything has been of late.

If you're coming to #IMCLeeds next week, I'm part of a roundtable on #DH projects
#IMC2023 1447 on Wednesday 5 July 2023, 19.00-20.00, along with @leoba @LisaFaginDavis and more!

I'm hoping to playtest #LangobardRPG at #IMC2023, Old Bar on Monday 03 July.
Starting character creation at ca. 17:00. Would love to have some players if you're in the area, whether familiar with #ttrpg or not!
