  1. #ICHPS2023 Dr Etzioni @MayoClinic talks about coding medical conditions - oh my, we the survey researchers should standardize the interviewer-respondent interaction with those dot phrases … although we probably cannot afford their software!!

  2. Seen today at #ICHPS2023 :

    - Brady West @bradytwest is dabbling in record linkage
    - my NORC colleague Dean Resnick is talking about imputation of race/ethnicity in the Nat’l Center for Health Statistics data for the social determinants of health #SDOH analysis
    - Elizabeth Stuart @lizstuartdc talks about policy evaluation of opioid prescription regulation laws - rare example where you really want to see an exact zero effect [on legit pain patients] (which she did)

  3. Arizona is apparently the place to hang out with Michigan people and buy Michigan stuff. #ICHPS2023

Really sad to be missing the closing keynotes by Ziad Obermeyer and Casey Ross @STAT.

  4. If you're at the International Conference on Health Policy Statistics, keep an eye out for members of the CAUSALab team and say hello!

CAUSALab Director @MiguelHernan, Professors Jose Zubizarreta & Issa Dahabreh, & researchers Sarah Robertson, Bijan Niknam, & Yigi Li are presenting today and tomorrow.

  5. @statstas three power women at #ICHPS2023, each is a dean at her respective school - Sherry Glied, Liz Stuart, Sally Morton

  6. #ICHPS2023 - Liz Stuart provides discussion. Policy is never based on a single study, there is always a step of synthesising research that comes in all shapes and sizes. Methods for evidence synthesis are needed; we the statisticians should call out both good and bad designs, help communicate what to look for in studies, and what to avoid; probe assumptions and develop sensitivity analyses

  7. @statstas Sherry Glied gives a keynote on evidence based policymaking. She is a very entertaining and engaging speaker. She talks about masks as a failure of EBP, and calls for (much) better synthesis of research fundings… like the spies do at CIA. #ICHPS2023
