"Hurricane hunters" risk their lives to collect real-time data for meteorologists: vertical cross-sections of atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, and wind speed at various altitudes. During #Hurricane season, #NOAA’s National Hurricane Center coordinates with the Air Force Reserve to fly specially-equipped WC-130J #airplanes inside the massive and powerful storms to gather data that will help forecaster predict this storm and more accurate predict future ones.

#Beechcraft #KingAir RU-21 #turboprop #airplane at #Orlando Executive Airport #KORL. Beechcraft has manufactured airplanes for decades, now doing business as #Textron. This King Air RU-21 airplane powered by 2 #PrattandWhitney PT6A-20 #engines with 550 #horsepower each.
The #US #Army had some RU-21’s modified for #SIGINT work in support of Central American #rebels and anti-#drugtrafficking operations. Some also served in the #GulfWar. They were #retired from service in 1993.
