The Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR), an agency of the Organization of American States (OAS), has approved a ruling intended to protect the rights of Kakataibo indigenous in voluntary isolation. It awarded cautionary measures in benefit of the members of the Kakataibo in the Indigenous Reserve, which extends over the #Ucayali, #Huánuco and #Loreto regions.

In December, workers remaining in the emblematic Panguana private conservation area in #Huánuco region were obliged to abandon the area due to threats from illegal miners.
Panguana was the first private biological station established in #Peru in the 1960s by the German researchers Maria and Hans Wilhelm Koepcke.
