Da Obdachlose auch ganz normale Menschen sind... wundert es mich auch nicht, dass die nicht von Berlin oder Hamburg nach Cottbus ziehen.Leider ist die Maslow'sche Bedürfnispyramide immer noch stark im Denken verankert, obwohl die eigentlich schon kurz nach ihrer Entstehung in Zweifel gezogen und durch ein weit besseres Modell abgelöst ist... Obdachlose Menschen haben auch ihr Sozialsystem (nein... nicht den Sozialstaat, von dem sie Geld bekommen, sondern Freunde, Bekannte... Menschen und Gegenden mit denen sie eine Beziehung pflegen). Man verlässt den Ort nicht gerne, wo sich sein Leben abspielt. Auch wenn es beschissen und voll Not ist.
Das ist ja auch das Konzept von #HousingFirst
Man gibt Menschen von der Straße 1x gleich zu beginn ein Dach über dem Kopf, in dem sie auf Dauer bleiben können. Damit sie sich dort ihr Leben wieder aufbauen beginnen können. Und dann schaut man ihnen zu helfen, dass sie ihr Zeugs geregelt kriegen. Also sozialarbeiterische Tätigkeit. Behördentermine, Schuldnerberatung und und und... Und irgendwann kommt der Tag, wo sie keine Unterstützung mehr benötigen.Geschah all das in einem Wohnheim und man übersiedelte diese Menschen dann in ihre "endgültige Wohnung" stürzten viele wieder ab. Warum?
Weil sie ihr soeben mühsam aufgebautes Sozialsystem wieder verloren. Neue Freunde weg, neue Wohnung in unbekanntem Umfeld, usw. Das hat einfach viele aus der Bahn geworfen.Und wenn ich heute einen Menschen aus Berlin an den Rand der Republik setze... wo er weder Menschen noch Gegend kennt... die auch noch anders reden... ich denke, das ist einfach zuviel...
Es müssen in den Großstädten mehr leistbare Wohnungen auf den Markt. Und hier nehme ich vor allem die Sozialdemokraten ins Gericht.
Wien hat vor 100 Jahren gezeigt, wie das geht. Die Stadt Wien besitzt heute noch über 200.000 Wohnungen im gesamten Stadtgebiet verteilt. Und damit hat die Stadt durchaus einen Einfluss auf die Mietpreise...Deshalb wäre ich ja auch SEHR dafür, dass es wieder deutlich mehr staatlichen Wohnbau gibt. Ganz in der Manier des "Roten Wien" der 1920er und 1930er-Jahre. Und zwar Europaweit. Ist zwar grad gar nicht im Trend, da die Neoliberale Denke, die libertäre Denke sich mehr und mehr durchsetzt, dass der Staat sich zurückziehen soll... aber ich bin überzeugt, DAS ist falsch.
Richtig wäre deutlich mehr Staat. Gerade am Wohnungsmarkt.

#BCNDP's #HousingHub program is coming under #scrutiny after one #TaxpayerSubsidized #RentalBuilding in #Vancouver's #Kitsilano neighbourhood, touted as "affordable", is now listing units for $2,600 per month for a studio & $4,200 per month for a 2 bedroom unit.
The listed #RentalPrices are well above provincial #AffordableHousing thresholds & one #housing #researcher says it's an example of how difficult it is to build #AffordableRental buildings when market prices are so far beyond what average #renters can afford.
The leader of the #BCGreenParty called it an "infuriating" #misuse of #TaxpayerDollars.
The #BCNDPgovernment provided a $31.8 million #LowInterestLoan to Vancouver developer #JamesonDevelopmentCorp. for the 68-unit rental building through the HousingHub program, which is aimed at providing housing to middle-income renters shut out of the real estate market.
#BCPremier #DavidEby, who was the minister -responsible for housing at the time, was quoted in a December 2021 government news release announcing the project.
"Our government is investing in more affordable housing for people who work and live in Vancouver, and throughout B.C." he said.
The building at 1807 Larch St., called the L2, is set to be complete next month & is now advertising units.
According to the building's website, a 400-square foot studio apartment starts at $2,599 a month & a 840-square foot two-bedroom, two-bath unit is listed for $4,299 a month.

I'm a #HousingFirst success story. Been #homeless twice for a total of 2 years. In my 2nd year at a @hopecornerstone shelter, I found out my application was never sent to the city the year before. I was assigned a #CMHA social worker in January 2017. By June, I had a #CCOC apartment with a 'Home 4 Good' monthly benefit; by the fall, I was on #ODSP; by the end of year, I'd quit cigarettes. I couldn't work anymore but was able to retire (way before 65) without losing my home again. Still poor.

In my home province of #NewBrunswick our autocrat #oilExec #premier #blaineHiggs is attempting to #criminalize #drugAddiction and #homelessness. He's already threatened to use the #NotWithstanding clause to force his new "mandatory addictions treatment" bill through.
We have ZERO space in addictions programs.
We have ZERO free beds in hospitals.
We have a BRAND NEW jail being built that no one knows why.The people on our streets will be rounded up and left to rot in overcrowded lockups where they will NOT receive adequate medical treatment, nor the financial and social services they **ACTUALLY NEED**.
It's actions like these that have caused A DOZEN of his own party members to resign.
Let's all stand up against this dehumanizing attack!
