It has become almost impossible not to become a victim of #HostileDesign or failure by design.

So, if you are wondering why I was late to start live post yesterday, this is what I was trying to fix with my friend: It's a Roomba.
First time I've seen a motherboard of a clean base covered in plastic blister pack. Most likley to prevent dust from getting in, but it made it pain in a butt to repair.

to HTML emails is. It just means that it won't scroll in probably anything but web mail.
This is just pure hostile design (in this case it's a response to a complaint which just rubs it in...)

I'm trying to disable PayPal's sneaky TOS data privacy update, but don't have that option, or even "Manage shared info" under "Data and Privacy".
Might be GDPR, might be lurking in settings that *don't show up* on my phone even in web.

DAA's AdChoices opt-out UI. Nowhere in this interface or its attached help docs do they indicate whether "selecting" an advertising company constitutes an opt-out or an opt-in, and whether it being red or blue constitutes selecting one or not.
Worse for many folks, the toggles consist of images and the alt text does not update when toggled.

Using my Kindle scribe, which as a reader is great, as a notebook is pretty good but has some room for improvement.
But as even a rudimentary web browser? Sweet Jesus this thing is pathologically bad. It's like Amazon hasn't touched the web browser on it since 2005. Even sites that are designed for eink or low tech devices are almost impossible to read and use. and forget about JS obvs #amazon #kindle #scribe #browser #hostiledesign
