Somehow, I missed this trailer for #HorizonHuntersGathering , the _other_ upcoming co-op game for the #HorizonZeroDawn / #HorizonForbiddenWest franchise.
Unlike #HorizonSteelFrontiers , this seems to focus on predefined rather than custom characters. Nevertheless, this has some things of interest. From a worldbuilding/lore perspective, I am particularly intrigued by the "Machine Incursions" mechanic (at the 7:10 mark) where a mechanical construct emerges from the ground and machines emerge from it.
Since this game is considered "fully canonical" within the franchise, I wonder if the same mechanic will appear in the sequel to Horizon Forbidden West.

I'm currently playing the Horizon: Forbidden West video game (I just got the Burning Shores DLC), the series the last clip is from, and I'm not sure I'd label it "Solarpunk", given that the world is the result of a devastating war caused by a tech bro pushing a bug to production. But if it weren't for the world-destroying antagonists, it does seem a bit idyllic. Big Hero 6 is a better example of Solar Punk. #SolarPunk #HorizonForbiddenWest

#HorizonForbiddenWest capsule review continued…
- the story was decent enough, I knew going in that it would be impossible to repeat the tour de force of the first game's story/reveals, simply due to its nature, so like…it's fine.
- as is tradition for good open world games, the sidequests are by & large absolute treats, I feel bad for anyone who just beelined the MSQ
- slightly buggier than 1st game?
- patrolling the Mojave can make you wish for a nuclear winte–uhh wait wrong franchise, my bad -
#HorizonForbiddenWest capsule review (haven't started DLC yet tho):
- absolute 100% recommend if you liked 1st game (you DID play HZD right?!)
- technical aspects (visuals/animation/mocap/etc) a straight upgrade, the dialogue scenes alone are staggeringly well done; and the world is gorgeous & gargantuan
- expanded combat/progression was neat but felt kinda overstuffed
- overall "more game-y" in a slightly bad way, eg SO MANY CHESTS & OMG SHUT UP ALOY
- bosses often stunlocked me even on easy 🤡 -
#HorizonForbiddenWest credits sequence: 30 minutes and counting 🫠 AAA games gonna AAA, I guess! edit: I didn't exactly clock it but it was at least 45-50 minutes all told. loved the 'primary' segment though.

I now have already 45h in #HorizonForbiddenWest and I'm tempted to make at least a ~90-95% "complete" run.
And I "only" have ~45% of the main game yet, and 0% in the DLC.This game is so beautiful and even a bit better than the first part.
