My last post for the 2023-24 AHL season. The #CoachelleValleyFirebirds lost to the #HersheyBears 4-5 in OT of the #AHL #CalderCupFinals

I’m pretty bummed. Partly because there’s no Championship banner to be hung in Acrisure Arena, but mostly because the next 11ish weeks without Hockey are going to be looooong.

Also, are there any other hockey games going on tonight? #HNOM

For the second year in a row the #CoachelleValleyFirebirds lost their last home game to the #HersheyBears 3-2. The only upside this time is that there are still TWO games left in the series. Tonight’s loss was hard, but I’m hopeful for Monday’s night’s game in Hershey.

Home game 9 of the #CalderCupPlayoffs as the #CoachelleValleyFirebirds take on the #HersheyBears in game 5 of the #CalderCupFinals.

This is also the last home game of the 2023-24 season and I’m a bit sad about that. 😢

The #CoachelleValleyFirebirds beat the #HersheyBears 6-2 tonight with help from a Hat Trick by the Captain Max McCormick.

I’ve been carrying around an old LA Dodgers hat in my hockey bag ALL SEASON LONG waiting for a moment when I can throw it onto the ice for a Hat Trick. Tonight was the FIRST chance all season I’ve had to do it.

Friends, it was everything I had hoped it would be. 10/10 would recommend!

TIL that there is a penalty for starting the incorrect starting line up when the #HersheyBears were called for the penalty “Incorrect Starting Lineup” 30 seconds into the first period

Home game 7 of the #CalderCupPlayoffs as the #CoachelleValleyFirebirds take on the #HersheyBears in game 3 of the #CalderCupFinals.

A less than ideal outcome as the #CoachelleValleyFirebirds fall to the #HersheyBears 5-2. The only upside is that I have THREE home games next week at Acrisure Arena and can hope that my team wins them all. Let’s go Firebirds!

Game 1 for the #CalderCupFinals wrapped up about an hour ago with the #CoachelleValleyFirebirds beating the #HersheyBears 4-3. The final score makes it seem like it was much closer than it maybe really was. Glad to see the boys pull this one out, but it was waaaaay closer than it needed to be. Looking forward to game 2 on Sunday!

Game 1 is on Friday between the #HersheyBears and the #CoachelleValleyFirebirds. I’m hoping that this series ends differently than last year. I don’t want to have to write something like this again

Woo Hoo way to go Hershey Bears!

In a decisive winner-take-all 7th game Calder Cup Championship and in overtime to get the game winner against one of the top up and coming goalies (Joey D'Accord, son of legendary goalie coach Brian)!

Happy for Sam Anas and Joe Snively, both DC area natives, who can now add Calder Cup Champions to all their other accolades!
