I've noticed that staff takes my housemate #DaisyDoo out into the world beyond in the car. She comes back with the scents of far away gardens, streets and adventures. I might want to try that in my new Arizona home. Once we settle in. Staff says we could try #HarnessTraining. It depends on what our new home is like though. How's harness training going? Well, Alea The Black Cat is a working outdoor cat, so I can't capitalise on the fact that she Get's To Get Out!!! once she's wearing it. Instead I have to slowly train her to be indifferent to it. We are currently at the 'Barrister stage' (I'm a cinnamon roll - why are you doing horrible things to me?), with a side note of hate.

Alea the Black Cat is an outdoor cat, so why do I harness train her? Well, there are four scenarios where she needs to be able to leash walk, some more likely than the others:

•I want to go camping and bring her
•I need to convert her to an indoor cat*
•Evacuation due to forest fires
•Evacuation due to war

The day she's trained enough for camping I'll post pictures.

(*That would make her depressed. She's been an indoor cat, and that wasn't good for her.)

I had high hopes for the red harness. It's adjustable on all straps for all sizes. Unfortunately Alea is 'petite', and can wiggle around the chest support even at its smallest setting. We're on the backup harness, which looks ~uncomfortable, yet she moves around better. But there's something about the color, the buckles, the metal rings, and the fact that she stomps while wearing it that makes her look like A Smol Angry Biker (fan art welcome).

New harness, who 'dis?

Finally a harness that will do in case of an emergency, but still not right enough. This one needs to be pulled over the head, and Alea tBC is _not_ _a_ _fan_. I got some very gentle warning nibbles putting it on and off. Training will continue with this one, until I get my hands on a similar with an opening clasp for the neck too (ie 2 - 4 days).

Harness training day 4. Not exactly happy, but grumpily accepts it. The harness is too big though, I'll just use it for training sessions untill I can get a better one.
