Valve is going to have to pivot from "Selling a console alternative at $499" to "Selling #HalfLife3 machine for $1,200".
The more time passes, the more cooked the #SteamMachine looks to me. We're talking hardware from 2022 (Zen4, RDNA3) being sold as novelty in 2026.
For $1,200, you can get a very powerful #RTX laptop.

I'm not saying my gaming tastes have completely changed since Half Life 2: Episode 2: Part 2, but after waiting this long #HalfLife3 needs to contain *as a minimum*:
• growing vegetables
• building friendships with postapoc survivors
• unlockable outfits
• at least two solitaire card games
• a minimalist programming language
• roguelike generation of dungeons
• a special gun that you roll dice to shoot
• all of the other guns to be like that too

my #halflife3 prediction is that it will never be released, as at this point no product will ever meet the fans' expectations
perhaps valve will make additional spin-offs and games set in the same universe, but these will not be called "half-life 3" purely to avoid people being disappointed
(and if i'm ever proven wrong, then y'all can enjoy playing half-life 3)

I dreamt about Half Life 3 having a dynamic plot generation powered by LLM, where things would be different for all players, but somehow cleverly come together into the same ending. In my dream , it was using LLM for good and showing us all how it can be done properly. It will be exciting to see what #Halflife3 will become - so far systemic interactions like earth wind and fire is the hottest on the rumor mill.

It's not that my hopium has ran out, it's just that I'm don't think I'll have time to draw in the next little bit. For what's it worth, here are my thoughts on this HL3 situation:
Given where we are now (the 19th have came and gone), and assuming that the rumour of a 2025 announcement is true (G-Man/Barney promised!), and ALSO assuming Valve Time doesn't happen, I think they would tease something on the first week of December, and a full trailer at TGA.
If the worst case scenario happens and nothing happened, I'll just go back to what I've been doing for the past 15 years and wait for HL3. I'm huffing the hopium and taking this hype train all the way to Cope-nhagen!
