Gårdagens #spelkväll bjöd på #Haggis ett av mina favoritspel. Ett kortspel i klassisk anda, för huvudsak på två spelare och en "vanlig" kortlek. Jag tror att det är riktigt bra på tre också, men har inte spelat så mycket.

And at home: dinner is not yet planned. Potato soup with brocolli, perhaps? Or another round of Haggis, as I have everything there - turnips were on special this week.

And after a distraction pricing up the next set of car parts I remembered I had better do something about dinner.
Thats "his" and a "hers" mini McSween #haggis in the oven along with the "neeps" (from the local country store) and "tatties" (from the #allotment.)
Kat is chopping shallots at the moment for a whisky cream sauce. I like to make a fairly chunky version of this sauce with shallots and green peppercorns in it.

Excitement! Haggis landed! 🫁🫀🎉
Remembered to order proper McSween haggis in its skin in time this year after last year's debacle of discovering none of the supermarkets stock it any more, even ahead of Burns Night! Couldn't even find the plastic sausage version, they all had some pseudo-fancy "Simon Howie" brand instead, and it was craaaaap. (I tried big Tescos, Sainsbos, even Waitrose!)
We do locally have the Fruit Pig haggis (with the addition of fresh blood) — it's nice, but it just isn't the same, plus we have it a few times a year anyway.
Burns Night is the McSween for me, the bashed neeps & tatties, the address, and a couple of good single malts (which is typically my whisky ration for the year — no, we don't drink it all at once.)
I'm not at all Scottish, it's just fun, and a good excuse for haggis (as if any excuse ought be needed.)
This package has two haggis (haggisses? haggi?) in it plus a massive Stornoway black pudding, to justify the shipping!

Visitors to #Scotland are reminded not to approach too closely to the many wild Haggis species at this time of year.
Some can become disturbed during the early nest building season, resulting in delayed breeding. Several species are easily provoked and can become aggressive 😕
Observe respectfully from a distance, preferably as part of a officially guided tour 🙂👍
