In what seems like an aeon ago, we used to watch a show called Global Village on SBS. Hosted by the delightful Silvio Rivier, it plucked short factual shows from around the world, giving us a peek into others' lives from around the planet.

Lately we've found that DW (Deutsche Welle) has essentially drop-in replacements for this on its Youtube channel, DW Documentary. Amongst the dire docos on wars, fascism, poverty, crime, there are also quaint little postcards from the railways.
