    In the books Superman brought the fight to the Nazis, fought racism, bigotry and hatred. Superman didn't wonder what the right thing to do was, he knew what it was and he did it. I'm old enough to remember seeing Donner's 78 hit and the promise of Superman is alive and well in this movie

    Also I fucking loved this movie. See it.

    CW: Superman is Anti-Fascist and Always Has Been.

    On April 25, 1940, Das Schwarze Korps, the official newspaper of the #SS, published a full-page tirade accusing #Superman of being a conspiracy to brainwash #American children with false #Jewish values like #compassion for the weak and defense of the #innocent.

    We're not fooled today either. This was one of the most positive renditions of the character, and it did a great job diluting the "#ubermensch" element that made him so palatable to some #fascists.

    Superman is anti-fascist. He's always been. It was nice to see a Superman with black curls who said things like, "Golly," as Superman always would have.

    Deeper into Breaking Bad that features this [one of very few, OK, but nevertheless for those times] great female BUT strong character Skyler White [yes, I have to state this explicitly], who really did grow from the beginning to series 4 where I am at the moment - and #TIL that in the time when that all was shot, 2008-2013, Skyler was "the most hated TV series character", and the actress Anna #Gunn was harassed in public due to that???!11 I don't get it AT ALL. What was wrong with those people.

    The city of #paloalto has issued a press release saying that the #Gunn High School lockdown was because of two phoned-in threats. The city says they've determined that both phone calls were hoaxes.

    Police in #paloalto are "investigating an unconfirmed threat towards the school" at #Gunn High School. The school is in lockdown. The district has informed parents that all students and staff are safe at this time.

    I don't know more than that. I wish I did. Our kid is texting us, and says there are a lot of rumors flying around but the students don't know any more than we do.

    On the way back from dropping off my kid at #Gunn High School, I saw a crew working on the power lines near Charleston and Wilkie. Possibly related...

    The power went on briefly, just long enough for my wife to make tea, and then went off again. The city is predicting that they'll fix the power this afternoon.
