I'm nearing the end of iron-blooded orphans, and I can't help but notice the plot progression here feels very.. un-animey? like as stupid as it sounds, the exact way everything eventually comes tumbling down almost reminds me of something like breaking bad
I can't put a finger on what it is exactly that's making me feel this way so I guess I'm asking anyone else who has watched ibo if they have any idea (and no spoilers past ep40 please)

haven't gotten around to the UC OVAs aside from origin yet (and I'm gonna take a looong break from gundam before I do) but damn this frame looks so cozy

is it just me or murroe from seed/sumeragi from 00 strongly come across as somewhat wannabe evangelion misato archetypes (to their big detriment)
though I do think sumeragi is far better executed (regardless of how she deserved far more time in the limelight to better flesh out her character)

FINALLY 00 closing thoughts, a few weeks late
echoing the ones I watched before it, 00 is another gundam entry I WANT to love but that didn't fully let me
the tone is comparatively dark and the morals grey, there's quite a lot of death around compared to the entries I watched before it, and the protags' faction's expressed goal of eradicating wars isn't presented as a simple, clean act that ends all suffering overnight with no consequences
the protags make for probably the best lineup I've seen in the franchise so far, there are echoes of themes brought up by older gundam entries like zeta, but also plenty of novelty, especially with their stated nationalities rather than the usual "born in colony #232", and with how they develop throughout the story
even outside of the protags, there are quite a few interesting types, between people ignoring the state of the world until they're hit by a very rough wake-up call, others struggling in positions they don't fit into, and more
though when it comes to main villains, 00 fumbles the ball.. pretty bad, I didn't find pretty much any of them particularly interesting and they tend to be quite clichey1
while not being a horrible character per se, graham is definitely the worst pseudo-char I've seen yet
his personality is just. completely wrong, he gets his ass kicked WAY too often for a char clone, and he adopts the goofiest ass alias in s2 which makes him even harder to take seriously
though I will say he is entertaining in regards to how he's lowkey sexual about fighting gundams and that's probably the one thing he most has in common to UC char

at last, got around to watching gundam 00 "a wakening" of the trailblazer after finishing the main show a week or two ago
not what I expected and in a good way!! it feels very different from 00 the show, I liked the glimpse into peacetime life (and the big gurren lagann reference at the start), the toying around with creepy, intentionally paranormal-looking ideas in a franchise that's usually pretty rigid with its realism was also super welcome
I'm super happy they backpedaled on the complexity of the gundams compared to 00 s2, I still prefer 00 s1's designs but the movie's aren't bad either
I felt one low point was the strewn out battles that quickly just turn into overwhelming visual noise, those could've definitely been cut down a bit
kinda anticlimactic (pre-credits) ending? I don't think that detracts much from the movie though, it's a good, sorta experimental cherry on top of the already good show 00 was

I couldn't be happier to say all ALL 00's endings have fully grown on me
my ranking goes something like ed3/prototype > ed2/friends tied with ed4/trust you > ed1/the one the back horn did
they're all very distinct (in ed1 to its detriment in my experience as I find the pacing too off in the full song, whereas in ed3 it makes for an INSANE song especially paired with the awesome still shots) and even the least out-there tracks are really great
haven't given the ops beside daybreak's bell a chance just yet but I'll get around to it eventually, for the time being I'm super happy with how 00 turned out as far as music goes, really awesome stuff
and that's WITHOUT getting into the endings' visual side, that was pretty much a progressive evolution from pngs moving around in after effects in the first one (no offense) to absolutely incredible shots in the last two

#afterwargundamx is really a hidden gem in #gundam series.
It's really original, both as setting and as #mechadesign and interprets the #newtype concept in a "definite" manner that UC series didn't manage to. It's a satisfying finale.
Then it has some really delicate and cute moments well placed in a crude but not hopeless setting, balancing everything very nicely. I found very little to criticize, even in the character design, which aged quite decently compared to other series (#gundamwing and #victorygundam I'm looking at you).
Plus it has 39 episodes, slightly less than usual, so it's a strong recommendation if you want a one-of Gundam series without having to commit to the UC saga (which is worth your time in all the four main installments, but are still long).

quick slightly-over-halfway impressions about 00
I am liking it but I think as it goes on it cranks the hype a little too much, it's crazy well done hype don't get me wrong but hype it is still
I was expecting more resourcefulness when it comes to getting the plot out of sticky situations without suddenly bringing out plot armor
though I very much appreciate how nearly everything in 00 carries consequences, even when that plot armor does come it often does so at a clear cost to try and balance things out

op2 feels a bit too much on the noisy side, it's fine but not as good as daybreak's bell

is it just me or this looks better than average for 2007??? I'm probably being gaslit by watching pre-2000s shit for the past half-a-year but still it looks quite good
they also made energy weapons that sound AND look good which is insane, Turn A has been topped at last
I do fw the religious references all over the place and I hope they're a synonym for peak just like in eva

Para mi, el reservarme este tiempo para poder centrarme solo en una cosa es terapéutico.
Hasta lo he hablado con mi psicóloga y me ha dicho que es algo similar a la meditación: Al forzarte a centrarte en una única tarea silencias (o amortiguas) el resto de pensamientos... y eso ayuda a que tu mente esté más despejada.
En el día a día tienes decenas de pensamientos, todos compitiendo por tu atención, con diferentes grados de prioridad. Si puedes reservarte un tiempo en el que puedas amortiguar todo ese ruido le estás dando un descanso a tu mente.
Repito: a mi esto me funciona. Esta aproximación tiene sentido para mi. Tal vez para vosotros no, pero si es así espero que podáis reservaros ese tiempo de forma periódica.

Same #hardoff, same price. Big Gundam fan here. Used to play with Gunpla when I was young too (after getting bored with cars and planes). Love the anime how the good are not always good and the bad are not always bad (not the ones made for kids).

Here's one that was an unexpected challenge: the 2008 #HighGrade #Gundam Throne Drei from #Gundam00. The worst color accuracy I have seen yet; even with all its color correcting stickers it would have been mostly red. After a lot of color matching practice and some admittedly sloppy painting, I'm pretty happy with the result.
Definitely won't be buying any more HG kits from before IBO, though.
