is it just me or murroe from seed/sumeragi from 00 strongly come across as somewhat wannabe evangelion misato archetypes (to their big detriment)
though I do think sumeragi is far better executed (regardless of how she deserved far more time in the limelight to better flesh out her character)

Wrapped up the #Gundam Cosmic Era last night with Seed Freedom, a 2-hour movie that felt quite rushed after two 50-episode shows in this setting. Mecha and mass destruction animation were gorgeous, but character faces (particularly the women, especially Lacus) got somehow worse. Without room for the story to breathe, the villains were all obvious and one-dimensional; where Seed Destiny invited me to care deeply about characters on all sides of the conflict, Freedom really only made space for enjoying the bad guys getting their shit rocked in the third act (which was, I’ll confess, satisfying and well-deserved).
My gripes aside, I still enjoyed it, and I’d welcome more visits to this timeline in the future.

FINALLY 00 closing thoughts, a few weeks late
echoing the ones I watched before it, 00 is another gundam entry I WANT to love but that didn't fully let me
the tone is comparatively dark and the morals grey, there's quite a lot of death around compared to the entries I watched before it, and the protags' faction's expressed goal of eradicating wars isn't presented as a simple, clean act that ends all suffering overnight with no consequences
the protags make for probably the best lineup I've seen in the franchise so far, there are echoes of themes brought up by older gundam entries like zeta, but also plenty of novelty, especially with their stated nationalities rather than the usual "born in colony #232", and with how they develop throughout the story
even outside of the protags, there are quite a few interesting types, between people ignoring the state of the world until they're hit by a very rough wake-up call, others struggling in positions they don't fit into, and more
though when it comes to main villains, 00 fumbles the ball.. pretty bad, I didn't find pretty much any of them particularly interesting and they tend to be quite clichey1
while not being a horrible character per se, graham is definitely the worst pseudo-char I've seen yet
his personality is just. completely wrong, he gets his ass kicked WAY too often for a char clone, and he adopts the goofiest ass alias in s2 which makes him even harder to take seriously
though I will say he is entertaining in regards to how he's lowkey sexual about fighting gundams and that's probably the one thing he most has in common to UC char

decided to resume the gundam brainrot flow and started watching iron-blooded orphans
fucking INSANE ep1????? from the minister's daughter giving off strong (early) Turn A dianna vibes, to the ever darker undertones of the setting, this might actually be the first entry that I'll truly consider peak
I really like gjallarhorn's outfit designs, they're definitely a standout from all other faction uniforms I've seen in gundam before
oh and I also fw that mobile suit, I love me some ms designs that aren't just gm/zaku remixes and I'm glad IBO is keeping up 00's great record on that

Cositas interesantes:
- Lo de RG viene porque esta serie forma parte del 'Projecto RG', un congolmerado de obras basadas en el mismo universo, pero en distintas etapas. Así que preparaos para mangas, cortos y por supuesto videojuegos (ahora volvermos a esto) ambientados en el universo After Apocalypse de Gundam.
- Curiosamente NO es la primera vez que se ven a Gundams contra alienígenas. En la película de Gundam 00 ('Awakening of the Trailblazer') los protagonistas se enfrentan a formas de vida alienígenas. A ver como lo llevan aquí...
- El diseño del gundam 'protagonista' recuerda un poco a Ultraman, no? No parece ser casualidad, porque el diseñador de mechas en esta ocasión es Eiichi Shimizu, el del manga de 2011 de Ultraman (en el que se basó la serie de animación moderna de Netflix).
- Otro nombre gordo a recordar es el de Kenji Kamiyama, director de la serie. Director también de la serie de Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, la serie anteriormente mencionada de Ultraman, el corto (y serie por estrenar) de 'El Noveno Jedi' de Star Wars Visions y de la miniserie Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Ah, y de la peli de los Rohirrhim de animación de El Señor de los Anillos que salió hace un par de años.
Tratamos con calidad aquí...- Este tipo de projectos que abarcan todo lo abarcable me quiere recordar a .Hack cuando sacaron videojuegos, manga, novelas ligeras y todo lo posible... y, por cierto... el juego de gundam que anunciaron durante el No E3 de hace mes y pico (Gundam Rogue Orbit) también está ubicado en este universo, en el año AA135... así que a ver que tal sale.

Pues en esta ComicCon de San Diego (no confundir con la ComicCon de San Diego de Malaga) se ha anunciado como parte del camino a seguir por parte de BandaiNamco a los 50 años de Gundam una nueva serie para 2027, con el confuso nombre de Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO.
El RG no tiene que ver con los Grades de las maquetas, y lo de XARX supuestamente se pronuncia Alex (tampoco confundir con el Gundam Alex de los ovas de War in the Pocket).
Al parecer la serie, como es habitual, se ubica en el año AA.45 (AA de After Apocalypse, que como es costumbre, cada serie nueva es en un universo nuevo).
Según han contado, la humanidad entra en contacto con un objeto interestelar, e investigando se consiguen las tecnologías conocidas como Tres Revelaciones:
- Control sobre la gravedad,
- Comunicación más rápida que la luz
- Materialización cognitiva (vamos, el crear a partir del pensamiento).Pero 10 años después de estos avances, el objeto empieza a liarla parda y a generar un ecosistema alienígena (con bichos y todo) en la Tierra, obligando a los humanos a abandonar el planeta.
Ahora, 45 años después del desastre, la humanidad contraataca e intenta recuperar su hogar.

Premieres in 2027
The show takes place in a fresh Gundam continuity called After Apocalypse, which ties into the recently announced video game Gundam Rogue Orbit.
This new universe was created by sci-fi director and writer Kenji Kamiyama, who is best known for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Kamiyama also directed Eden of the East, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, and The Ninth Jedi short from Star Wars: Visions. Novelist Toh EnJoe (Self-Reference Engine, Harlequin Butterfly) also contributed to the RG universe’s worldbuilding. Sola Animation will handle production for Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO.
