I decided to bite the bullet and run my placement matches for Strive. I keep putting them off under the idea of "well if I just learned a little more of this or that first...", but that ride doesn't end.
Now that that's all done, I am flabbergasted to find out I am now Gold 2. It was around Silver 1 last season! Guess there was a lot of learning and little climbing, huh?

Today I could finally spend a little longer on trying out my mains in Strive 2.0 and... Unika hasn't really changed much, has she? I've got better at her fundamentals through general gameplay proficiency, and with A.B.A. being a bit less of a menace I could actually get a good number of rounds from my friend.
Slayer though, I'm still autopiloting to old c.S > 6H conversions which no longer lead to pilebunker, and also following Dandy Step with It's Late despite how s l o w it is now. Ended up replacing most applications of it with cross-up Master's Hammer, that was fun. Won't last though, I gotta actually relearn the strings. He doesn't feel gutted though, so I'm liable to not drop him, which I like.

Hab heute morgen endlich mal wieder den #Fightstick ausgepackt und ein bisschen #GuiltyGearSTRIVE gespielt. Der Style, den dieses Spiel ausstrahlt, ist einfach fantastisch. Mit dem neuen 2.0 Update und einem neuen Charakter macht es weiterhin richtig Spaß. Ich liebe es, mit Elphelt online richtig auf die Fresse zu bekommen und manchmal zu gewinnen. <3

I don't really play video games anymore outside #starcitizen and #guiltygearstrive and the stuff that really interests me aren't released yet, so anytime I play something I think I'll go ahead and stream it.
Exceptions for when I need/want "time to myself."
But like.
I keep saying this but I don't feel like I can really "afford" to have hobbies anymore.
Everything needs to be either making revenue or pushing toward some kind of goal, at least with regard to vtubing, and social media, which is a business.
Its easy to say "that's just hustler culture talking"-
-when you don't have to worry about choosing between being miserable 40 hours a week and pissing away your limited finances until you're miserable 24/7 and on the street.
Pretty much one of the few things I refuse to commodify are my personal relationships, which is why most of my collabs are-
-incidentals, free talk, or "if you're around and want to fight."
If I'm spending time with you and not monetizing it, its because I want to focus on *you*.
Think of it in the same vein as going to a restaurant and I never touch my phone. I'm fondling my phone 23/6. Why the fuck would-
-I want to do that when we're together? Do you understand how rare it is to spend time with someone? Do you think we will have a chance again?

CW: Some fighting game notation
A friend gifted me Unika on Guilty Gear Strive, and having tested her gameplay and compared it to the theoretical idea I had of her I think she will indeed be my secondary. Not exactly a complement of Slayer, no, but she'll be a good change of pace when I want to refresh my brain but not go for something entirely different.
Now I just need to do what I did with Slayer and hammer her conversions down. I keep doing 5S~5S, while I should probably cancel that last one to Mode:Arbalest 236H (also available with the simplified input of 6H in this state), or actually do the proper 5S~2S~4/6K string. But that's a matter of practice! I'm already doing much better against my friend's A.B.A., though I don't know if that's just them not being very good at the Unika matchup or otherwise rusty at her.

Had felt the bite to learn fighting games better again, and off to Jack my Dandy it was.
Today's lesson was on the topic of getting my actual conversions down. One wouldn't believe how big of a difference it makes when converting a stray c.S hit into a chain that leads into the fabled Pilebunker instead of a random scramble of buttons that ends in a whiffed 6P. Or perhaps one would. I sure do.
