I like the parallels between this and #GreenDeath We have famous intellectuals who have dropped out of society. The nuthutch are shown as the heroes who choose to work to save humanity. These passengers are shown as the villains who abandon it #DoctorWho #DinosaurInvasion
-
It feels like I've had an extended break since the end of #GreenDeath (it has been exactly one month) but it is finally time for Season 11, complete with the watcher version of Jon Pertwee floating down a weirdly shaped tunnel #DoctorWho #TimeWarrior
-
I'm sad to see the end of Jo Grant (for now) but I'm really pleased that the fantastic Katy Manning gets the best companion exit that the show has done up to this point (and I'm going to call it as the best exit of any classic series companion) #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Whereas the #Daemons gave us the happiest and most triumphant ending to a season the #GreenDeath gives us the saddest and I genuinely love them both #DoctorWho
-
The most successful romantic subplot in classic #DoctorWho (there isn't much competition). There is a chemistry here we never saw with Peladon, Latep or Mike Yates and you can genuinely believe that Jo would stay with him #GreenDeath
-
The ending is very effective. Stevens has been a good villain and gives a great performance throughout but in particular in these final scenes #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
I bet the Doctor wishes he'd bought a car with a roof at times like this... #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Why did no one in the script editing process point out that having the menace die instantly after tying vegan food for the first time might clash a little with the other themes of the story #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
A singing AI, whatever next... I managed to get Suno to hum (sort of) https://suno.com/song/a901b5dd-803a-46d9-a65a-2b8da07829a4 but I think I prefer the one caused by a mistake in prompting - https://suno.com/song/b24660af-6efb-4ef6-a53f-bbea979a8485 BOSS has nothing on Udio and @suno_ai_ #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
I love the #GreenDeath and it is a great story, but I do wonder if it could have benefited from sticking to the original themes. The idea of the problems being caused by a company seeking to maximise profits is somewhat diluted by throwing in an "evil" computer #DoctorWho
-
What I don't appreciate is the comics doing yet another science and technology is bad and rural idyls are good story. It feels like they have that stuck on repeat and it is starting to grate more and more with each story #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Watching in order I'm noticing more and more just how obsessed this show used to be with hypnotism and mining #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
And with this scene Mike Yates life is changed forever and one of the most successful character arcs in classic #DoctorWho begins #GreenDeath
-
I didn't know 70's #DoctorWho contained such blatant product placement #GreenDeath
-
So it turns out that modern AI isn't thrown into an endless logical loop by the Doctors logic puzzle, strange that... Both GPT4-o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet conclude that they wouldn't believe me #DoctorWho #GreenDeath

There was a discussion to be had here about the nature of man vs machine. It's suggested that for BOSS to become intelligent he needed to be made irrational and illogical like a person but that this also makes him cruel. So much unexplored potential #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Dr: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We are more than machines
BOSS: Ah! Thank you. Because in that case, so am I.
I have to say BOSS makes an excellent point and rather than refute it the Doctor changes the subject and makes fun of his name #DoctorWho #GreenDeath -
I will accept we didn't know it was a computer in charge up to this point, but Wotan was years ago now so why is it so surprising that humanity would have developed better versions (although curiously we have had no intelligence explosion) #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
We suddenly seem to have decided to sacrifice story to allow Jon Pertwee to play dress up and put on silly voices. He does it well, but it is all a little silly for me #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
He should really have introduced himself as Yates, Mike Yates, but still it is good to see Mike have something to do, feels like it has been a long time. I think he suits being a spy #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
It is mildly depressing to realise that this episode could be re-filmed and broadcast today without that many plot changes (apart from the coal mine I suppose). Corporate greed, pollution and AI are all themes I imagine will be in the next season #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
JO: Look, I'm sorry, I know I'm a cloth-head, but
JONES: That's all right, love. It's not your faultJO: Did it hurt?
DOCTOR: Oh, Jo, really! Not sure if it's just the effect of having the Doctor in stereo but Jo's intelligence is diminishing by the scene #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Not so long ago this was an adventure serial with the Doctor whizzing around time and space fighting monsters. This story takes the interesting stance of being dismissive towards this kind of story to really emphasise "real world" issues #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
This maybe the story most like modern #DoctorWho We have domestic scenes, a well written romance, and a jealous, visibly emotional Doctor. We also get this scene where they discuss the importance of an ordinary person. The death of Bert is given real emotional weight #GreenDeath
-
It's nice to have the Brigadier out of uniform for a story. I'm really enjoying the domestic scenes in this one as we all sit around eating fungus and smoking cigarettes. I just wish they could have afforded to have the other characters in this scene speak #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Is this the most explicit suicide scene we have had so far? Still, calling a character "Fell" and then having him jump to his death seems a little on the nose even for this production team... #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
I've mentioned that I would have liked to have seen more of the conflict between UNIT as an international organization vs its role within the British military. We get a little of this here with the Brig getting orders direct from the PM #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
This is very much the Brigadier's episode, and it is the best he has been in a long time. My favourite moment though is when he describes the Doctor and Jo as his friends rather than colleagues, when making his threat to close down global chemicals #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
Despite the very obvious CSO effects on this scene I still think it works well. It makes me feel a little queasy watching it now #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
-
I remember being very creeped out by this scene when I first saw the story and if I'm honest then I still am. It is genuinely creepy #DoctorWho #GreenDeath
