  1. I miss 2016 when #europauniversalis was popular and there was always a multiplayer game being hosted. That was peak gaming. 20-30 history nerds playing on a grand strategy map with pacts and betrayal happening in and out of the game. Secret messages planning attacks.

Obviously as with any online game there was occasional toxic behaviour but once you had a good group you could get so much fun and some great stories.

I'd love to play again if anyone would like to set something up

  2. In #TotalControl you create your own army, your own blueprints, tailored just for your fighting style! (pro tip: you can even sell your units to other nations).

  3. #GrandStrategy is the closest thing to a time machine I have ever found. Games like #EuropaUniversalis, #CrusaderKings or #Victoria give me an entire world and ask: what if? What if a small dynasty conquered Europe? What if one single decision changed the course of history entirely?

You rewrite the timeline, pull on one thread, and watch everything unravel differently. Every campaign is a new alternate universe worth exploring.

And then there are titles like #DistantWorlds or #Stellaris, where the same depth applies but the sandbox is an entire galaxy. Civilisations rising, collapsing, first contact scenarios, technology trees that reshape everything.

No other genre makes consequences feel this real.

  4. Anyone on Mastodon fancy setting up a gaming community?

I'm looking for #multiplayer games of #grandstrategy #Paradox games like #stellaris and also looking for people to play #Baldursgate3 with

  5. You arrive on an alien planet with spaceships and the knowledge of a spacefaring civilization.
Within hours, the atmosphere fries every chip you brought. No electronics. No supply chain. No currency.

3,000 provinces. Simulated population. Every person has food, employment, demographics — all feeding into the simulation.
This is what I've been building for 3 years, alone, in my spare time.

  6. 3/20: Introducing: Extractive Hegemonism. Not isolationism. Not retrenchment. Something more aggressive—an attempt to monetize American structural power rather than spend it maintaining an international order.

  7. 1/20: Every analyst I know is walking around with the same quiet frustration. The old frameworks—realism, liberalism, constructivism—don't explain what we're watching. The map is wrong. Time to draw a new one.

  8. INTRO/20: The frameworks we use to understand American foreign policy were built for a different game. Realism. Liberalism. Constructivism. None of them explain what we're watching.

This thread introduces a new theory—Extractive Hegemonism. Not the security interest. The ownership claim. Twenty posts. Core theory, two live case studies, hard implications. I'll be rolling this out in four parts over the next several days.

    Strap in.
