~of foods Ann selected; they welcomed us gladly.

The station has members from 7 planetary nations: 3 are suffering from hurricane & typhoon damage; 2 are embroiled in a war with the 6th. The seventh, nobody speaks of.

Now we face a more difficult question than what hue to paint the sky: do we seek to aid those we can on the planet? And if so, what about the war, and what about the mysterious seventh nation?

In the meantime, I painted a nice landscape of a planet I barely remember.

In one of the odder stops we’ve made (that’s saying something) we found ourselves in a space station, orbiting a well-developed but beleaguered planet, which had gone too long without a visit from home, restocking them & while onboard taking part in an arts & crafts celebration.

The Ruchiensÿr are bipedal, bilaterally symmetrical & like painting; they hailed us when as we settle in orbit to observe their planet. We brought over paper-like media & a selection~

The wall has a single gate, which is locked from both sides.

I am angry, although I do not know why. JJ is furious, although she doesn't know why either.

The babies won't stop crying.

I cannot remember whose babies they are. They are at least ours: they are not at all blocky. The animals here are as blocky as the terrain.

The other half of the team has put up a flag that consists only of more blocks.

I do not know what happened, and I am worried.

I confess I'm not certain what happened.

Not just in that manner where one gets confused about events - all of our records were wiped by a sudden pulse that shook the world approximately 15 days past. When that happened, many of us lost parts of our memory as well.

What I know: We are on a planet made of squares, blocks, & cubes.

Half of our team has moved to the other side of a wall-like construction and built a blocky wall between us.

So I was surprised to find Fin spending more time around me.

I don't hold myself apart - there aren't that many of us; it would be ridiculous. But as I said, we tend to be introverts here, and I'm no different.

I didn't notice it until he showed me the bath-house he’s just laid the foundation for.
Then I realized both how much time we'd been spending together & how much we already know about each other.

If we're stuck in the past, at least it's with friends.

- because dragons, as a matter of course, are a matter of myth.

These particular ones have long hibernation cycles, are bout 7 meters long snout to tail at the largest, and do not quite breathe fire.

However, they have amazingly fierce claws and teeth, like meat, can fly, and drip acid from their mouths when hungry.

And, it seems, they're always hungry.

The issue — as I have said before — with our brief scan of a planet before sending down a survey team is that we miss things.

In this case, what we missed were dragons.

“Dragons,” Ospe insists — they need the quotes. Or dragon-likes, the way the things that fly around here are crow-likes.

But the thing is, dragons are mythical. There is no concern about this creature being mistaken for a living animal on a planet our people inhabit, except this one ~

The Pau's records note this as a planet of interest, & I see why. Nearly 100 years later, their conflict resolution system remains amazing.

After three weeks of observation, we decided to make contact. They have not reached spaceflight yet, but the rules are different than when the Pau was here.

In a tribute of mischief, we spent an additional week nudging the lines of three interesting nations until they left a triangle~

but you might find yourself enemies with either of the “warring” nations next week.
But most interesting is the fact that they paint their borders with dekameter-wide stripes. And sometimes they sneak up and paint a new line in the middle of the night.

We spent a week watching them. It might be the most entertainment we've had in months.

Any reports that a team snuck down and moved a border by half a meter are to be ignored completely, of course.

I find this planet to be one of the more fascinating that we've surveyed.

The technology is early Industrial Age in most ways - we won't be contacting them now, but it's noted in case we get back home for potential later contact. They're quite tribal, but they fight their wars with contests of skill rather than violence - martial showmanship, mathematics, art. I gather there's some politics involved in the judging, since your nation might be neutral now~

We’ve spent three days studying a planet so beautiful and so cold that I wanted to name it The Arctic.

¾ of its land mass is ice or snow; the thing is, there is an equatorial band of beautiful, arable, well-rained-on land, occupied by large bear-like creatures and smaller bird-like nonsentients.

But our sensors indicate that they’re going into their winter season right now; we can’t afford to wait to see if it grows significantly colder,
