Hell, the molecules in your body at this moment are largely not the same ones that were in your body when you were born.
    Are you not you?

If you were locked in a hermetically sealed room with all that you need to exist, there would still be dust as particles of your body fall away.

We turn to dust, every day, and we literally breathe each other.

But we really don't like to consider, at all, how literally enmeshed we are with each other, preferring to believe that we are naked and free, wild individuals who are not affected by the well being of others.

And don't get me started on the futility of what we consider to be power.

The idea that killing someone — an act within the ability of toddlers, and something happens ACCIDENTALLY every day — is POWER, when sitting with a loved one who is dying, and and being unable to do a damn thing about it, is also the ultimate moment of POWERLESSNESS, has perplexed me literally from childhood.

(I'm going to tag this because I want to find this later when I have time to riff further.)

  3. Sometimes I get a screenshot that kicks my inner yappy anarchist who wants to explain EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH HUMANITY into high gear.

This, my friends, is one such screenshot.
But I have other things to do, and nobody wants to read 3 hours of anarchist ranting that ties our greatest — and most easily exploited — flaw (the need for validation) with every problem currently facing the planet.

I will try to rein it in.

Once Upon a Time in America, the people who are now white, had cultures. They were French, or English, or ... uhm geez even the Germans started out not being considered "white".

But anyway, some were poor and some were rich, and the poor ones might have got ideas that their lot was better thrown in with other impoverished people, so the rich gave them a gift: whiteness.

It was a fairly shitty gift with NO ACTUAL VALUE, and it literally cost them NOTHING, but it gave the poors a sense of belonging, and a ✌🏾"natural"✌🏾 affinity with the people who were oppressing them. And still are.

But whiteness is by its nature ✌🏾"exclusive"✌🏾, and yet not something that has to be earned.
It is purely the product of natal happenstance.

It is also not something that can be ✌🏾"stolen"✌🏾.

What it CAN be, however, is devalued, because, *dun dun dun*, ANYTHING whose value exists only in your mind, relies on VALIDATION to be maintained.

So, whatever whiteness may be in THESE people's minds, the objective reality is that it is associated with a wide array of extraordinarily problematic things — and talking about those shitty outcomes tarnishes "whiteness".

The visceral attachment to whiteness is precisely because it turns EVERYTHING into a zero-sum game. But that's supposed to be an unspoken outcome, because it doesn't sound noble or positive.

Whiteness also turns everything into a Ponzi scheme, and relies on people wanting to "get in on the action" to be sustained. Which is why you let in the Germans, and the Italians, and the Irish... but slowly. You have to maintain the air of exclusivity, after all.

[ insert rant about Black cops and judges here. ]

Okay, I really have to get back to what I was doing.

Suffice it to say: delicious white tears; dismantling whiteness didn't require touching a single statue but it certainly got through some thick skulls; thr need for validation is humanity's clipper chip back door.

Blah blah blah, back to work.

  4. Why does my brain always do its best work when I have a deadline?

No, not "best work" as pertains to the DEADLINE for the thing I'm SUPPOSED to be doing, but it suddenly hurls out completely unrelated philosophical explainers.

    Note to self: Zine.
Are you young enough to remember what made you happy? Many people don't even get the opportunity to figure out what would make them happy.

  5. From your perspective as a user, an “encrypted messenger” ensures that each time you start a conversation, your messages will only be readable by the folks you intend to speak with. If the operator of a messaging service tries to view the content of your messages, all they’ll see is useless encrypted junk. That same guarantee holds for anyone who might hack into the provider’s servers, and also, for better or for worse, to law enforcement agencies that serve providers with a subpoena.

Telegram clearly fails to meet this stronger definition for a simple reason: it does not end-to-end encrypt conversations by default. If you want to use end-to-end encryption in Telegram, you must manually activate an optional end-to-end encryption feature called “Secret Chats” for every single private conversation you want to have. The feature is explicitly not turned on for the vast majority of conversations, and is only available for one-on-one conversations, and never for group chats with more than two people in them.

  6. #Introduction pt. 3
    Wherein we learn:
Why the only branch of philosophy less popular than Moral Philosophy, is Value Theory, or:

Jesus Christ, Can That Woman Go On

So, I am an anarchist who doesn't believe in revolution. Revolution leads to counter-revolution, which leads to things flipping back and forth, and on and on.

I believe in breaking things once and permanently.

This is a proposition that is simultaneously SO much easier and so much more difficult than revolution: Because, despite all the people The System is failing -- and it fails so many, every single day -- the vast majority would not change it if it was Working For Them.

And this is the greatest hurdle: People believe that they understand The System.

As much as it sucks; as obviously imbalanced as it is; and as much as it calls on you to ignore your empathy: they have been indoctrinated into it from day one, and they think understand the rules.

On some level, they know that those rules, as they have been explained to them, are not actually the rules by which The System operates.

But instead, they have become convinced that the problem is them. Capitalism is a rational system, and if they are failing at it, it is because of some innate shortcoming.

Sometimes I want to say to them, "If it makes you feel any better, I'm a motherfucking genius. It's not you."

(And yes, I know I'm not supposed to say that; I'm supposed to wait for people to figure it out themselves, and then announce, "Wow are you ever smart," and then pretend like I've never noticed, even though that would kind of make me not-so-smart 🙄. Besides, that's not bragging. I am fully aware that that detail, PLUS $5, might get me a cup of coffee. In and of itself: Not really worth much.)

Anyway, that's the issue that we have to overcome: that people have been blamed for their "failure" for so long that they have internalized it.

And getting past that is going to require a demonstration, not a revolution.

I have been predicting that we are on a very specific trajectory for years now, and that the only way to thwart it or slow it down is to increase the number of people being crushed, along with the arbitrary nature of WHO gets crushed in order to maintain the facade.

    How wrong am I?

If you're still with me, I want you to ponder something:

Instead of a revolution, what is the single smallest yet most meaningful step we can take to realizing a better future?

I have ideas (of course I do 😆), but I would love to hear yours.
