The long-awaited Jupiter system was officially inaugurated on Friday at the Jülich Supercomputing Center near Köln (Cologne) in #Germany, and has surpassed the exascale threshold of one quintillion (10¹⁸) operations per second. If you want Arm CPU with LPDDR5X memory & high-speed interconnect to a Hopper GPU today, you are looking at NVIDIA GH200. NVIDIA has two key innovations here that really set it apart from what you can get elsewhere. First, LPDDR5X memory is soldered onto the package. Second, the NVLink-C2C is a high-bandwidth interface between the CPU and the GPU. The 72 Arm v9 cores are Arm Neoverse V2 from 2022 so not exciting.

Today I benchmarked #FluidX3D on Nvidia's #GH200, both #GPU and #CPU with #PoCL. Finally I can answer the question: How does that exotic 2-chip #HPC APU show up in #OpenCL?
--> It's 2 separate devices, a GPU with 94GB @ 4TB/s and a 72-core CPU with 480GB @ 384GB/s. The NVLink interconnect between the two is much faster than PCIe, achieving ~380GB/s host<->device bandwidth, only limited by poor misaligned VRAM BW on the GPU or RAM BW. -

Grace Hopper is an attempt to get Nvidia’s CPU efforts into high performance territory. #GH200 bundles a #CPU and #GPU together. The Grace CPU consists of 72 #Neoverse V2 cores running at up to 3.44 GHz, supported by 114 MB of L3 cache. Cores and L3 cache sit on top of Nvidia’s Scalable Coherency Fabric (SCF). SCF is a mesh interconnect, with cores and L3 cache slices attached to mesh stops.

A little more info:
Apparently the CPU and the GPU partition use different chips. Namely the #rhea chip is used for the CPU only partition while the GPU partition is a slightly custom version of #nvidia #gh200?
Open question on interconnect and how many.
being as part of the system is NV, I'd be shocked if it wasn't infiniband based, probably in the 200 or 400 Gbps varieties?

The DGX #H100 is an 8U system with dual Intel Xeons and eight H100 GPUs and about as many NICs. The DGX GH200, is a 24-rack cluster built on an all-Nvidia architecture. At the heart of this super-system is the #GraceHopper chip. Unveiled at March GTC in 2022, blending a 72-core Arm-compatible Grace CPU cluster and 512GB of LPDDR5X memory with an 96GB GH100 Hopper GPU die using the company's 900GBps NVLink-C2C interface.
