Reply to e-mails displaying X in the footer:"Please don't send me e-mails marketing X-corp by displaying their icon and a link to them."
We must make companies and organisations understand that there is a cost in lost goodwill and reputation. They have it there for marketing reasons, so if it has an adverse effect it can change their mind over time.
