An international team of physicists, including researchers from Jülich, used supercomputers to deliver a new high-precision calculation of the muon’s magnetic moment ⚡🧬
The result reduces theoretical uncertainty and strongly validates the Standard Model of particle physics.

A research team including JSC has won the prestigious 🏆 Gordon Bell Prize for Climate Modelling. 🍃 The winning entry was a novel approach that allows the Earth system to be simulated with unprecedented spatial accuracy. To achieve this, the team used Europe's first⚡exascale supercomputer, #JUPITER, and the Swiss supercomputer Alps.

#JUPITER ranks fourth in the Top500 list and is Europe's fastest supercomputer. This was announced at the #ISC25 in Hamburg today. The "newcomer" is also the most energy-efficient system in the top 5 of the list. JUPITER was developed by the #JSC and built at the Forschungszentrum Jülich over the past few months. Many mysteries surround the origin of the universe. 🎆 One of these concerns the ‘false vacuum decay’, exploring the dynamics of the ‘Big Bang’.💫 🌍 A team of scientists from JSC, the University of Leeds & the Institute of Science and Technology Austria used #quantum #simulations to examine it more closely. #Silicon #Photonics Breakthrough: The “Last Missing Piece” Now a Reality. Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich #FZJ the University of Stuttgart, the Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics #IHP and their French partner #CEALeti have successfully developed the first electrically pumped continuous-wave #semiconductor #laser made entirely from group IV elements, commonly referred to as the “silicon group” in the periodic table.

#FZJ und #JEN erwarten noch in diesem Jahr die Transportgenehmigung und wollen dann schnellstmöglich mit dem Abtransport nach #Ahaus beginnen.
Ab 2024 sollen 152 Straßen-Transporte von #Jülich nach #Ahaus erfolgen. Dann wäre Jülich keinesfalls „atommüllfrei“, sondern weiterhin mit anderem #Atommüll aus dem stillgelegten #AVR belastet.
