An international team of physicists, including researchers from Jülich, used supercomputers to deliver a new high-precision calculation of the muon’s magnetic moment ⚡🧬
The result reduces theoretical uncertainty and strongly validates the Standard Model of particle physics.
The paper appeared in Nature.

A team led by #MPIM & #DKRZ has received the prestigious HPCwire Readers’ Choice Award🏆, presented at the #SC25 conference in St. Louis, MO, US. It recognizes a simulation of the full Earth system with the #ICON model at 1.25-km resolution 🌐, which was carried out on the Alps & #exa_JUPITER supercomputers & achieved an unprecedented time compression of 145.7 simulated days per day. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement! 🎉 #HPC #Supercomputing #ClimateModeling

Finally, #JUPITER crossed the 1 ExaFLOP/s threshold today. The list is lying to you, though, it's not like it's 1000 PFLOP/s exactly, it's 1000.184 PFLOP/s; the rest got lost to rounding.
The 184 TFLOP/s are pretty much exactly the same as the previous #JSC supercomputer JUGENE from 2008. Incredible, that this gets lost in the margins only 17 years later.

This is excellent news! The first module of #exa_JUPITER is ranked first place in the #Green500 ♻️ list of the most energy-efficient supercomputers worldwide! We seem to have behaved well this year, we got an early Christmas present!
Two #NVIDIA #GH200 Grace-Hopper nodes arrived. They will become part of the JURECA-DC Evaluation Platform and used for preparations for JUPITER. We are excited! #HPC #exa_JUPITER -
