i'm currently doing a bit on bluesky where i post about towns which have a population smaller than the number of accounts blocking will stancil and i don't want to shit up mastodon with bluesky drama so i'm not going to bring it all here but i do think it's some of my better work

While Palestinians are suspended en masse - even those who are not there primarily for fundraisers - and trans folk are being banned left and right for criticizing Will Stancil and for mentioning that the head of T&S liked barely legal porn on his work account, Will Stancil gets to openly admit to circumventing blocks (which is against the site's TOS) with no consequences.

Will Bluesky staff revise the TOS to accommodate him, like they did with Jesse Singal?

Here are the most followed #fuckaas #Bluesky accounts. A few things stand out:

* These are small numbers! You can break into the top 30 without even 1 million followers.
* A lot of 2017-2018-era “never Trump” grifters (The Lincoln Project, Mueller, She Wrote, George Conway, Adam Kinzinger, Alt National Park Service)
* based on the above, I assume Bluesky demographics skew old and overlap with MS Now’s
* Lots of “epic bacon” type accounts that were big 10-15 years ago (Hamill, Takei, Hank Green)

Hiya! I heard that beige.party needed some extra color! And that alt text character limits were not so tight here. 🌈📷🏳️‍⚧️

I have a few alts in the fediverse. I've been sort of around for years, but then I came in with the #fuckaas migration and started using @[email protected] daily and as my primary social media. That's turned into more of a shitposting kind of account. I created @[email protected] for my writing outlet, where I was also posting photos before now. I'll be doing that here, instead. I have a couple of other accounts, but that gives an easy taste of my varied fedidentities. 🙃🦄👽

I'm a 48 year old medically retired nomad, traveling the southwest States, especially Utah and Arizona, with some Texas sprinkled in. I'm nonbinary/trans/genderfuq, autistic/AuDHD, with plural identities, and I have fought my whole life to be as gloriously weird and free as I'm just now discovering I really am. 🪄🧭✌️

I've recently found my inner peace, and now I find myself in a phase of self creation and discovery. That means I'm going to spend a lot of time in beautiful, remote places - which I love taking photos of, and my favorite calming activity is writing alt text for them. Not all of my alt text will be in novella form, but I do sometimes love finding words for all the little details, which is why I'm here.

I previously marked myself as gone from that site we #fuckaas fled. Today I put up a "deleting this account on Monday" message. And got a chance to switch to alternate contact methods with a couple of friends, including one who reminded me that we'd met at a Tweetup I hosted, known as the White Flask Party. That was just over 19 years ago. 🤯

Damn, the internet has been a great source of community for me over the years.

Anyway, sad to lose another space. Had to be done.

I like this #forkiverse thing of a pre-existing community having a go of fedi and all sharing in, and helping each other out of, the initial confusion. They seem ok overall too as far as I can tell.

It's a bit like the #fuckaas thing from the other month but maybe closer to the buzz of Hachyderm than Jorts Horse or Beige Party. Bit bigger as well.

@visionaire It’s just new people discovering the fediverse. No more, no less. Like when #fuckaas came online or any other server that has a sudden spike in membership. There’s no fuss. Just the frothy enthusiasm of new people trying something new and hoping it will be good.

I’m trying to be enthusiastic right back at them. I want to make them welcome. Help them stay. I’m following a bunch so they have followers and see interactions. I boost their stuff so they get exposure. I’m trying to make their feeds less empty.

I’m trying, frankly, to give them the opposite of the finger-wagging, grouchy welcome that new users have often gotten. One thing at a time. Get them in and enjoying themselves. Gradually introduce them to the culture without putting them off.

I have been threatening to find a way to remove the phone feature off this mobile communication device for at least a decade. I might have successfully done it!

There's nothing in my apps under P for Phone, or C for Call. 🧐 (even when accounting for the new alphabetical order #fuckaas)

Problem is, it's the incoming phone call feature that I really want gone, not the outgoing one!
