These days, the front yard prairie is purple not just because of the clover but also because of the big bluestem. Which is called “bluestem” because it’s purple, obviously.

... so I'm researching when I may mow to get rid of last year's growth without killing off all of the pollinators.

Internet says: no mowing in Y3 of prairie establishment; do a controlled burn instead.
