Hi format nerds! I'm getting interested in chemical formats encoding molecular structures. I looked at the CTFiles formats maintained by Biovia (https://discover.3ds.com/sites/default/files/2020-08/biovia_ctfileformats_2020.pdf).
The spec keeps mentioning "lines" / "blank lines", etc. But I couldn't find whether this should be CR, LF or CRLF. Does it implicitly mean that any of these is acceptable? Or did I miss something?

Je connais des normes, mais elles s'appliquent pour des ouvrages papiers. Mais quand il s'agit de déterminer le numéro de page d'un epub ou pdf, c'est un peu plus compliqué...

What's a good #format to serialize simple structured #data in an efficient way?
I'm thinking about some binary #XML encoding. Also, #ASN.1 because it natively uses integers, not just strings. Is the packed representation (PER) widely supported?
The data will be a bunch of interleaved time series streams, so variable field lengths could be a big win.
Is there a format for stuff like that?
#Matroska's EBML? Only I'd have to hack the schema in.

A propos de la dépendance aux #formats #propriétaires, la France s'abstient a l'ISO depuis des années pour de sombres raisons (MP). Je rencontre L'#AFNOR la semaine prochaine pour réactiver la commission des formats de documents révisables FDR, cela fait plus de 6 ans que je le demande pendant que la France s'abstient automatiquement. @LaMouetteODF je ne vous oublie pas et ferai un compte rendu. Et si la commission est réactivée, il faudra travailler ;-) #AFUL
