The time is long overdue for the original Football Ferns to get the proper recognition they deserve from New Zealand Football. How hard can be to do the right thing here? It reflects poorly on New Zealand Football that a sporting goods corporation has done more to honour them than their local governing body.

Yesterday bookended by an utterly tragic shooting and a nation’s sporting joy.

I’ll stick with the joy if I may.

What is it about womens sport - there’s just more obvious joy and fun, for the players and the crowds.

And the old chestnut that ppl don’t watch women’s sport…that’s changing before our very eyes.

The skill level and pace in last night’s world opener was exceptional. The Ferns were incredible on the ball.

i've not watched much football. a game that lasts 90min and the most common score is 1-1 seems like a yawn. which is rank hypocrisy given my fave sport - test cricket - usually lasts *five days* and often still ends in a draw. 🙃 but at least wickets are taken and a few hundred runs scored! 🏏

anyway, i watched the entire 100min of #NZLvNOR and loved it! the players' skills, the energy, the tension, the crowd, and that historic result! great stuff and huge congrats, #FootballFerns!! 🤩
