I have somehow ended up with three Mastodon accounts.
All called Robinzz3.
All looking like me.
All technically different people.
This is the sort of thing computers do while insisting they are making life easier.
The newest Robin lives at Aus.social, where I have been given 3,000 characters per post.
This is excellent news for me and possibly alarming news for everyone else.
The old Robin has 67 followers.
The new Robin has four.
And yet the new account is already getting more attention, which suggests follower numbers may be less important than being in the right room.
So I am going to stay here for a while and see what happens.
There will be no dramatic migration ceremony.
No digital removal van.
No small brass band playing as my followers are transferred across the internet.
For now, the three Robins will simply coexist.
One active.
Two increasingly historical.
A small federation of me.
One practical detail:
If you followed me on one of the old accounts, you will need to click Follow again here.

Attempting to grow network as it's actually kind of hard to find good blogs to follow here it seems? I'm still learning the platform.
Shout out to @Whatyawannasee posting a great mix of professional and amateur clips featuring a wide variety of men. As an added bonus, they take the effort to properly name and tag performers where possible and I'll attempt to do the same here.

I have been repeating for years that we should stop using follow and start using connect instead.
I'm genuinely wondering why Friendica, a self-proclaimed Facebook alternative, has adopted Twitter's follower/followed dichotomy. I don't recall early-to-mid-2010s' Friendica having had this.
Hubzilla, a straight fork of Friendica from 2012 by Friendica's own creator, does not distinguish between "follower" and "followed". "Connections" are the default. And they're bidirectional by default. Just like Facebook "friends". In fact, there's no UI element that can show you those who only follow you, but who are not fully connected to you. Your list of connections only shows you whom you are connected with, and how much they have permitted you to send them.
The same goes for the two youngest members of the family, (streams) and Forte, both of which are still maintained by the guy who created Friendica and Hubzilla.

I can't imagine what the devs where thinking
It's like it assumes you're starting from zero and have no idea what Twitch is or how to use it
I did get it to show me my #Followed channels at startup
But when I select a #Channel I already follow it starts at the streamer profile screen with #UnFollow selected
Like, I'm going to start up a stream I follow and what I'm going to want to do is unfollow that streamer?
From there it takes a <down-right-right-right> to get #Chat open, and then a <left> to close chat and just watch the stream in full-screen

Poimin seurattaviksi mahdollisimman monet; melkeinpä kaikki, joiden tilillä on jotain liikettä näkynyt syksyn mittaan. Paremman tiedon ja ohjeistuksen puuttuessa arvelen vain seurattavien ihmisten viestien näkyvän suoraan (esim. vastaustensa missä tahansa viestiketjuissa), enkä halua sivuuttaa mitään ehkä arvokasta.

I think people are a little confused about wanting to become a social media influencer. That's not really a thing here although the people that post the smartest stuff and reply to comments do seem to have a large number of followers. And THEY mostly follow you back! 😁

Right, I've followed back most people since my move from mas.to to my own #Mastodon server! I've discovered importing #following lists only sends #follow requests, not actual follows! :MOULE_Shock:

I just read a message where a user called #Mastodon "soulless". In over a month they :
* had #followed under 10 people
* Had roughly 10 posts with no #hashtags
* When responding to others, had only every responded to a mini-celebrity
..so yea, their experience probably sucks
I used to try and help explain how to "get going" here to folks, but at some point you gotta try to help yourself a bit
A lot of times (not always) in the #fediverse you will get the #socialmedia experience ya ask for
