Saturday, I posted Radio Jay Allen's review of the LITEMALADSP/MALAHITEAM MLite-880 portable software defined radio. I hear that because of its complex menu structure with multiple pages, it may not work well as a receiver for a blind person. I posted something on X about this, asking if there were people who are blind using SDR radios, but got no response.
This portable sounds really neat with adjustable noise blanker, good FM with multiple band width selections and SSB for SW.
If I find anything else about this, or any other SDR, I'll post here.

  2. Ever tuned into your FM radio and suddenly picked up a station from 800 miles away — crystal clear — only for it to vanish minutes later? 👀📻
That's Sporadic E Propagation — one of radio's most mysterious and thrilling phenomena!

  3. Radio Propagation

Sporadic-E: Es clouds over Poland are raising the MUF above 88 MHz in the region.

Sporadic-E: Strong Es clouds over north-east Europe are pushing the MUF above 88 MHz.

  5. Over on Polish Radio 24, a Special Edition host suggests #Trump somewhat changed his mind on #Ukraine thx to... Melania - born in Slovenia, knows ruZZia, remembers Soviet Union. "I know it's NG to point out her age...but she does remember those times"😂 Fair on 99.9 FM via Tarnów 2.5kW @ 332km #fmdx

  6. #FMDX never heard at this location Brentwood Pennsylvania, 104.1 WPRS praise 104 from Waldorf Maryland. This is over 270 miles from my location.

  7. Radio Propagation

Sporadic-E: Possible double-hop sporadic-E reception of a Shetland FM station reported by Spanish dxer in Rota at 2,638km.

  8. Radio Propagation

During the big sporadic-E opening this morning (see earlier posts) I logged 71 FM stations in 1.5 hours, all between 983 and 1896km and in a tight azimuth between 150 and 173°. Stations received were in the east or north-east of Spain, Mallorca and Algeria.

  9. #FMDX I'm about to put my portables on the shelf. Most DX days here are enhanced signals from Punxsutawney. One good E-skip opening and another average. And that's better than some. I have friends who haven't gotten any E-skip this year. With HD and added FM translators and seemingly fewer openings of interest, the hobby to me is getting less fun. Part of the enjoyment of catching DX used to be listening to radio in other parts of the country. Now, all radio sounds the same. End of sad rant.

  10. Radio Propagation

Sporadic-E: High MUF over the North Sea is giving some short-skip Es on FM band 2 between Ireland/western UK and N Germany/Scandinavia.

  11. Radio Propagation

Sporadic-E: The MUF continues to be high over Europe today giving some nice FM-DX. Double-hop trans-Atlantic Es contacts are also in progress.

  12. Radio Propagation

Sporadic-E: The MUF is above 144 MHz over several parts of Europe.

I'm receiving Italian national broadcaster RAI Radio 1 and others in south-west England. Unable to pinpoint the exact transmitter as they have a network on that frequency, although it's likely to be the main transmitter at Sardegna with 126kW.

  13. #FMDX a bit of an opening here in Brentwood Pennsylvania. 103.3 and 104.1 from Buffalo New York. Lots of Cleveland, Canton and Akron Ohio stations including 100.1 from Akron which is hard to get here.

  14. #FMDX from Brentwood Pennsylvania, 102.9, I think the call letters were KBRX from O'Neill Nebraska. Top of the hour ID followed by Townhall news. Earlier, I heard them play "all my exes live in Texas ".

  15. #FMDX from Brentwood Pennsylvania, KERA FM 90.1 Dallas Texas.

  18. #FMDX #E-Skip 92.7 KGFS from Pierre South Dakota where the temperature is 59° and I heard an ad for burial insurance.

  19. #FMDX #E-Skip from Brentwood, PA listening to 104.1 KWOW Clifton, Tx. Spanish language. Station mixing with KRBE, Houston, Tx. Also another Country music station heard, not identified.

  21. Radio Propagation

Strong tropospheric propagation is again present across the southern British Isles and northern Europe, extending the normal distance of VHF/UHF signals. A large high pressure is settling in for a few days.

  22. Radio Propagation

"Good" "Strong" tropospheric radio propagation on VHF bands across the southern British Isles and Northen Europe.

This is my haul over the past two hours from a quick scan of the FM band (map and log courtesy fmlist.org).

  23. #FMDX #MWDX #SWL The XHData D808 arrived last night and here are some quick first impressions.
FM: Typical DSP portable with good sensitivity and selectivity. With all the hype of its FM, I expected better. The Qudosen DX286 destroys it on FM. Better selectivity with its adjustable filters and the car DX286 chip makes it way more sensitive.
MW: D808 is a typical DSP portable. It's quite sensitive for its size, but if you have a really strong MW station, the radio's sensitivity decreases the closer you tune to the strong station. If I lived elsewhere, I'd really like its MW performance.
SW: Seems sensitive with full coverage to 30MHZ. It's a bit slow to activate SSB, but fine tuning works well with tuning knob and fine tuning dial.
Air band: I have to do more checking.
    LW: same as air.
Ergonomics: Thumbs down. Frequency button is on the bottom to the left of 0. There's a row of buttons, same size above the numpad.
It's a keeper. I want a full coverage portable with SSB capability.
