We got robbed of the ending we should have had on TV because of the Hollywood $$ machine, but at least we get 𝗮𝗻 ending.

It's arrived... it's finally arrived.
For those who have never heard of it... It's the final chapter from the animated TV show 'Final Space' that aired 3 season from around 2018 to 2020.
The company who ultimately owned the rights... cancelled it and soon after pulled all 3 seasons from streaming platforms. before killing it entirely as a tax write off, ensuring it could never be seen again. Only seasons 1 & 2 ever got a physical release.
So basically...the only way to see all 3 seasons is to... erm... acquire it... via some... erm... alternate... erm... methods.
The guy who created the show, was gutted obviously... But set about trying to get the rights back.
He couldn't... but he did strike a deal... with very strict conditions around releasing the final 2 seasons in a graphic novel. Originally going to be around a 10,000 print run... pre-orders went through the roof as the show has become a cult classic. Pre-orders hit around 60,000 and are still climbing.
But he had a plan... part one of the plan was to actually write the damn thing.
I ordered this in Dec 2023, and I was already in the 25000 order range. It wasn't cheap, £125 UK pounds... but that included all shipping and customs charges should any apply.
As you know... shipping costs have gone up a lot... But not once did he ask for extra.
He kept the fans updated on his YT channel and his official reddit account... Personally recording and writing almost weekly posts on progress. There was no PR team working for him... this was a labour of love to finish his creation properly.
The graphic novel was finished a few months ago, sent to print. All of the pre-orders then got signed.
He also found a loophole in te contract, that allowed him to print more... and have those sold in bookstores around the world.
So he made a slight change to the cover for those versions... the book is the same, not signed obviously.
He also did a version in black and white with a black and foil cover. For an extra special edition if people wanted it... same book, same price... only for those true collectors.
On top of that... in the back of each book are printed several QR codes.
These codes take you to an expanded universe of stories... for free... that are still being worked on and illustrated to this day and beyond.
I almost don;t want to read it... because then the story will really end. Because I might crease a page, or get a dirty mark on it.... Maybe I need to order a bookstore version to read, so I can keep this one in pristine condition.
But no... I will read it... because that's what it's for.
If anyone out there was a fan of the show and is interested in getting their hands on a copy... He's doing a book tour of the USA right now and you can pick up a copy in store.

The show itself was fun & something special - you could sense the joy & passion involved. Phenomenal music choices.

#FinalSpace Damn, Final Space Ends is actually shipping. Olan Rogers is a really inspiring human.
I bet the book tour events will be awesome. Sadly I'll be travelling when he comes to Seattle but he mentions more Canadian stops coming, maybe Vancouver will be on the list.

It was just over 3 years ago that #OlanRogers announced he had a deal in place that allowed him to finish his story, #FinalSpace, as a graphic novel.
Next week he's flying to the distribution center to oversee the arrival of the finished book. We should hear shipping dates soon after.
Stoked. For the book of course, but mostly for Olan.
