Here is the American Dream... Everyone is, of course, white in all of the imagery for this campaign, and here we see the happy white family sitting in church -- demure, begloved housewife sitting in her place, watching her bonneted little girl adoringly before going back home to tend to the housework and get her husband's pipe and slippers ready, no doubt.
Apparently this actually is a real campaign - "Project Firewall." I knew that these backwards thinking nutcases wanted a return to the "traditional values" of the 50s -- rights for women and non-white men stamped out and medical technology pushed back 75 years by RFK Jr -- but I didn't know they LITERALLY wanted to go back to 1950s in all visible respects!
I guess I'm surprised to be surprised.

A HALO game screenshot calling illegal immigrants "the flood."
First of all -- stay out of our games for your recruitment tactics. But, beyond that, The Flood (basically a zombie apocalypse in the game's story) can only be defeated by eliminating all that it consumes, namely humans, citizens, people.
Creepy, offensive, and ill-conceived.

What exactly are Presidential Executive Orders (EOs)? EOs are in essence a form of "executive prerogative". Note that this phrase is no where to be found in the Constitution. As documented in the Library of Congress, Executive Orders:
- are "directed to, and govern actions by, Government officials and agencies"- have the force of law if the topic of the Executive Order is "founded on the authority of the President derived from the Constitution or statute"
- are required by law to be published in the Federal Register

Unlike laws, EOs can be overturned by subsequent presidents. I love working on Election Day. I like working in the polling stations. I like helping people to vote. I think it is a great way to spend the day.
So in QLD it has been the local and state elections and they are run by the #ECQ. It may all be chaotic but having a computer to mark people off provides a speedy process.
The #ECQ run it. They register our details in their system and they pay us. All good.
I’m moving to WA and the #AEC runs the elections.
Why I don’t want to work for the #aec
1. They use books not computers. Makes the days longer and harder.
2. They use a private firm to take your details and pay you. So basically you are a subcontractor. I’m forced to give my private details to a private company.Maybe someone out there can tell me that this isn’t so but i’ve checked multiple times and i’m pretty sure it is.
The federal government is a big out sourcing firm who doesn’t run anything particularly well. It didn’t used to be this bad. I worked for #DFAT when I graduated. Over time they have become a big tax wasting mess. Where giving our taxes to mates to do the job we should be paying bureaucrats to do. You may think the usual trope of bureaucrats waste money but it takes a private company to change millions into billions with the extra bonus of bad unaccountable service. #qantas

The #Canadian federal government announces that they're pivoting to being "digital first" and "digital by design".
The newly appointed Citizens' Services minister, Terry Beech pointed out that being digital first doesn't mean there won't be in-person services but people can get services completely online.
He said that in the near future Canadians wouldn't need to go to the Passport Office to get their passports renewed.
