Update on #EuRuKo: I will not be MC'ing in Brno this year.

My sincere hope is that things will move in a positive direction, but I won't be part of this specific iteration.

I've been in the Ruby community for close to twenty years, spoken at countless events, organised a good number of them (including an iteration of EuRuKo).

There have been ups and downs as with any community, and I'm proud of the work I and those around me have done.

Update on #EuRuKo: I will not be MC'ing in Brno this year.

My sincere hope is that things will move in a positive direction, but I won't be part of this specific iteration.

I'm so old that I remember #EuRuKo being affordable for people from not-so-wealthy countries.

But I guess 🇨🇿 #Czechia hit inflation too for #EuRuKo2026.

It was nice that :ruby: #RubyConferences once were affordable for everybody. It made you meet people that otherwise wouldn't have come.

I felt this shift in the community in the recent past.
But maybe next year's #EuRuKo2027 will allow that again. Who knows?

Being surrounded by #RubyFriends, old and new, at #Euruko inspired me to rejoin the instance. Being around so much love and energy in the #Ruby community is fantastic. It’s my first Euruko and my first time seeing @matz live. As always, @marcoroth is pushing #Rails forward, and I can’t wait to plug in Herb on my next project. Finally, I was proud to see my teammate, @rhannequin, give his talk with such coolness and aplomb. Roll on day two tomorrow!
