This very nuanced NYT article about the Turkish city of Erzin that survived last week's earthquake largely unscathed (with no deaths and no collapsed buildings) demonstrates that the term "natural disaster" is a misnomer as a friend puts it. What we actually have are natural hazards and *human* disasters.
