SpaceX wchodzi na giełdę? Musk zmienia strategię, by zbudować kosmiczne centra danych

Po latach zarzekania się, że SpaceX pozostanie firmą prywatną, by nie ulegać presji akcjonariuszy, Elon Musk wykonuje zwrot o 180 stopni.

Jak donosi Eric Berger z Ars Technica, powołując się na liczne raporty, kosmiczny gigant planuje w przyszłym roku ofertę publiczną (IPO), która może wstrząsnąć rynkami. Mowa o wycenie rzędu 1,5 biliona dolarów i zebraniu z rynku nawet 30 miliardów dolarów żywej gotówki.

Skąd ta nagła zmiana? Odpowiedź brzmi: sztuczna inteligencja. Musk, który od lat jest zaangażowany w rozwój AI (najpierw OpenAI, teraz xAI i Tesla), chce wygrać ten wyścig, angażując w niego wszystkie swoje aktywa. Plan jest iście futurystyczny: firma zamierza wykorzystać zmodyfikowane satelity Starlink do budowy orbitalnych centrów danych.

Wizja Muska wykracza jednak poza orbitę Ziemi – w swoich wpisach na platformie X wspomina on nawet o fabrykach satelitów na Księżycu. Aby zrealizować tak ambitne projekty w krótkim czasie, potrzebny jest kapitał, którego nawet obecne, świetne wyniki finansowe SpaceX (prognozowane 22–24 mld dolarów przychodu w przyszłym roku) nie są w stanie zapewnić w odpowiednim tempie.

Nie oznacza to jednak porzucenia marzeń o Czerwonej Planecie. Wręcz przeciwnie – gigantyczny zastrzyk gotówki z giełdy ma posłużyć jako „fundusz wojenny” na kolonizację Marsa. Szacuje się, że budowa samowystarczalnego miasta wymaga wysłania miliona ton ładunku, co przy obecnych stawkach może kosztować bilion dolarów w samych startach rakiet. Musk, mając 54 lata, zdaje sobie sprawę, że okno czasowe na realizację tego planu jest ograniczone.

Decyzja o IPO to jednak ryzykowny zakład. Z jednej strony daje środki na przyspieszenie budowy floty Starshipów i robotów Optimus, które mają przygotować grunt pod osadnictwo. Z drugiej – wpuszcza do firmy inwestorów, którzy mogą woleć kwartalne dywidendy od wizji wieloplanetarnej cywilizacji. Wygląda jednak na to, że Musk uznał, iż bez tego ryzyka nie uda mu się ani wygrać wyścigu o AI, ani dotrzeć na Marsa za swojego życia.
