Wobei man nicht unbedingt jenen, die die Sprache nicht ausreichend beherrschen, den Vorwurf machen darf, dass sie stümpern, sondern jenen, die sie beauftragen und Importeuren, denen das gleich ist. Qualität kostet, auch in China und Englisch hat dort vermutlich sinkenden Stellenwert, Deutsch ganz sicher.

I will always be fascinated that the manufacturer (or the buyer? I don't know who adds the stickers) of a train costing a few millions can't afford a professional translator.
That's Polish EN63H-002.
The Polish version says not to *block* the door (with baggage).

It's a fun place to shop. Just so much "cute" stuff. I don't mean cutesy, but literally, small, purposeful items like sponges, notepads, teacups, you name it. Some cutesy stuff too, I'm sure.
Of course, there's also a decent array of glorious #engrish merchandise. XD

I may have already posted a picture of this shop (but as I migrated my account, it doesn't matter). I was confused and intrigued by the choice of name. Some serious Engrish if you're asking me. And indeed. It's supposed to be a pun as in katakana it reads the same as "low cost." 🤷♂️

No worries, I'm here to help you. Take an English noun. Any noun. And add Boy, Man or Mr. to it: Fish Boy, Snow Man, Mr. Children. (these are all actual names)

For inexplicable reasons my kid's school has a "manga class", run by a couple of the older students (super cool!)
This has the odd effect that now my daughter uses English words like "character" when talking of the manga they're writing.
I wonder if the "teachers" have been reading some American book, cause it seems odd japanese would use a foreign word for this (tho they use foreign words for a bunch of things,.so who knows).

@Dio9sys many years ago a large Japanese company wanted to market a handheld computer in the US targeted at business.
Think of something like the old Radio Shack Pocket Computer, for work.
Their US office had to strongly discourage them from calling it "The HandJob."

I never thought that the phrase "Mad Fans around the world" would be a phrase you would find on a tube of mobile phone glue.
Also "This was a great adhesive" is not a good sign - we've not even used it yet....

#decolonization #education - Don't just approach people like me, because we look #Asian #Chinese & #assume we speak the same language by trying to speak bad #Engrish or trying to talk to us in a #language that isn't even ours. We have huge variances on #AsianLanguages & even more if you explore #TribalLanguages 🤲
How about asking us what language we speak first, before trying to impress us w/bad #linguistics that aren't even our language?
