Update on Katie Phang lawsuit to force Todd Blanche to fully comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA).
The judge issued an order today (August 6). Here is a pdf with that order:

A status hearing will take place August 13. The judge is giving Blanche a second chance to produce the required documentation. The order says “[t]he Defendant shall be prepared to discuss what documentation he will provide to support his assertions.”
Obviously if the redacted names were actually victims of sexual abuse it would be a simple matter for Blanche to produce documentation showing the redacted names were for victims. Instead, the redacted names at issue are likely for men that were *committing* the abuse.

How *dare* the judge claim the DOJ conceded that it broke the #EpsteinFilesTransparencyAct when we just didn't contradict the many ways we obviously did when given a chance during the *preliminary* proceedings. The best innocent lawyers always save the best evidence and arguments for the end. (p. 3) [But, how is ¶ 1 above not a concession of the same shape?]
This is part of the statute. (pp. 4–5)
Congress, who gave us 100% of our budget, did not give us *more* money to expose these #EFTA files. (p. 6)
From day 1, Blanche was the PR flack who was tasked with telling Congress "everything is fine." (p. 6)
He's also #Trump's flunky, so he did PR flack for him too. Over 1k victims and relatives. (p. 6)

"The Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA) requires that the millions of documents collected by the Department of Justice (DOJ) about Jeffrey Epstein be shared with the public in a “searchable and downloadable” format. In practice, though, the searchability of the DOJ releases has been crude at best. Keywords may turn up individual links to PDFs, but users have reported major search malfunctions and limitations handling the documents at scale.
As the American public and people around the world try to understand the over 3 million pages of documents, 180,000 images, and 2,000 videos in the latest Epstein Files drop, these search limitations are a serious barrier to entry. In the vacuum created by the DOJ, journalists and engineers have stepped in to fulfill EFTA’s transparency promise. Many of them are using AI tools to create alternative databases and release them for the general public — making the files more easily searched, analyzed, and understood by the average person.
Take Jmail, an interactive archive that has transformed the dense email PDF files of Epstein’s emails into a familiar, searchable Gmail-style inbox. Last month, Riley Walz, one of Jmail’s creators, announced that the Jmail website had surpassed 450 million page views."

Notable rationales have been the recognition of the #genocide perpetrated in #Darfur by the #RSF, the use of chemical weapons by the #SAF, but also SAF’s ever-deepening ties with #Iran.

It's a good day for obscure international courts, as the often neglected EFTA Court made front-page news in Norway over its judgment in the Norwegian State v Greenpeace Nordic.
The head of #Greenpeace Norway is quoted calling the #EFTA Court "the most important tribunal Norway must deal with as an #EEA country". While the validity of this claim could be questioned, it is certainly more true today than it was yesterday.

Never really understood why in the #UK the discussion about rejoining #EFTA didn't get more traction. Maybe to do with that adherence to the Citizens' Rights Directive would come along with it, and it having been the main issue for many #brexit voters, in particular due to lack of more housing?
In any case, a pity that there's lack of common social policy (with which no one would have to rummage through Europe for something to eat), and that it creates trade barriers.
