Today at #EDPD2022: "Violence against persons with disabilities".
But I’ve been hearing only about gender-based violence against women.
Yes, women are victimised more than men are, and often by men. But those are general population statistics. I wonder what the statistics are for women vs. men with disabilities – I bet they are very different.
And that’s not even considering non-binary and trans folks. They've not been mentioned today at all. It's as if they don't exist.

Attending the European Day of People with Disabilities #EDPD2022. You'd expect this event to be accessible. And for people with some well-known disabilities, it is. But, as usual, #autistic people (± 1 in 100) are ignored when it comes to #accessibility:
- insufficient advance info
- poor signposting
- coffee breaks very crowded and noisy, conversation impossible for us
- quiet room not announced, hard to find
- quiet rooms are not an inclusive substitute for a non-overloading event anyway
- etc -
