Outage continues at the Duck, but at least they have an outage screen up rather than just the server errors.

Hey, yeah, #DuckDuckGo?
FUCK YOU, THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON, AND YOUR LITTLE DOG, TOO!
This is what finally pushed me into setting my default search engine back to Google, because Google has better results, image search, and actually gives me the page content without this AI bullshit!
GOD!
Like, Google's search quality isn't half of what it used to be, but it's still better than Bing's, but it's this search that finally did it. I was willing to put up with crappier results if it meant I stood for something, but obviously DDG doesn't stand for SHIT!
EDIT: In the interest of making this post useful, Firefox has the "udm14" plugin to make search somewhat better by automatically adding the udm=14 suffix to it. It's still Google and most of the problems with that, but it's honestly the least crappy search you can get these days.

Does anyone have details on what caused #DuckDuckGone? Other than (fairly obviously) the Bing API died, there don't seem to be details. Not on The Verge, Arstechnica, Slashdot, just op-eds on search engine monocultures.

And to all duckduckgo users,
Bing had also an issue today, leaving you with this cute panda: -
It's interesting to see, where the users of duckduckgo are presumably living.

It would not surprise me in the least if some independent search engines crash under the load from #DuckDuckGone

Anyone seeing irony in The Duck being down? #DuckDuckGone
It's a f⬛ed-up duck.

War ja auch zu schön um wahr zu sein.
#Duckduckgo lässt entgegen Werbeversprechen bestimmte #Tracker zu.

@mrbitterness Love how their response was basically "But...but... we block tons of other stuff! Why isn't THAT enough for you?!?!!?"
-
« The privacy-focused #DuckDuckGo #browser purposely allows #Microsoft #trackers on third-party sites due to an agreement in their syndicated search content contract between the two companies […] However, while performing a security audit of the DuckDuckGo #Privacy Browser, security researcher Zach Edwards discovered that while the browser blocks Google and Facebook trackers, it allowed Microsoft trackers to continue running » 🙄

My thoughts on #DuckDuckGone :
All non-open-source search engines are "black boxes", you should assume they are full of paid-for bias of various sorts, that is their business model.
Same goes for algorithmic social-media timelines, Youtube search etc. -

Dear #DuckDuckGo,The term that you are looking for in relation to your "down-ranking" of alternative news is called #memoryHoling.
Also consider the terms 'censorship', and 'siding-with genocidal racists'.

DuckDuckGo wants to decide what is misinformation and rank that lower for you... as if you aren't smart enough to filter misinformation yourself:
