Driving on the interstate today, I saw a deer walk up to it. She looked at the road, then she looked straight at me, and I swear she shook her head sadly before she turned and walked back the way she'd come, leaving me completely ashamed of my noisy, dangerous, pollution machine-driving self.

Another anecdote: '18 Chevrolet Bolt equipped with new tires to replace originals this year at 67k miles/108kkm, with a bit of space remaining above wear indicators.
As B&C says, it's a lot about too large and too heavy,. Couple that with aggressive and/or brainless driving habits (race to that next red light!). These self-inflicted problems affect a broad spectrum of vehicles.
But excellent propaganda for the fossil fuel industry. High superficial appeal.
