The German Shepherd breed was created in 1899 by Max von Stephanitz, a former cavalry officer from Dresden. He spotted a wolfy-looking herding dog at a show, bought it on the spot, and said: “This is my ideal of a German shepherd dog.” The rest is history. 🐺🇩🇪
