@r1y Self-hosting e-mail just needs #exim and #dovecot, both of which are services directly configurable in #guix. The hard part is establishing a new address, and decommissioning the old one.

I've got this exact set-up myself, and give every organization that needs e-mail contact with me a unique, hard to guess, address. But I don't generally advertise myself as available by e-mail, and insist on contact through https://khleedril.org/dale-mellor/contact.

Yes we can! Without #authkeys!

Because #TLS supports not just #server side #certificates , but also the client can be verified.

My #Dovecot now logs me in without a password :D I just need to possess a valid (unlocked) private key. The secret never crosses the network.

Next step: make sure the decrypted key is never written to #swap .

Ha, funktioniert: LoadBalancer für #dovecot wird automatisch erzeugt, automatisch in DNS eingetragen und automatisch ein TLS-Zertifikat erzeugt. Langsam nimmt mein Mail-auf-Kubernetes-Setup Form an.

Because of the ridiculous decision from #dovecot, replication between two servers won't be possible anymore.

I have - against all advices - ran my own mail server since 2019. It has served me and my family pretty well over these years.

Now it's time to migrate. And that's painful.

It looks like I'm going to Stalwart. Just to get the infrastructure ready - Foundation DB cluster, two Garage nodes for replication, Zabbix, etc, took a lot of time.

I hope #Stalwart will bit worth it.
