Oh my, could it be that #chezmoi ticks most boxes why I was starting with #NixOS in the first place? 🤔
Initial tests looking great. It's flexible and allows very easy adaptation for templates or host/user/...-specific settings.
I don't think that it's made for managing whole config subdirs (including their own git repos) but I can think of viable workarounds.

When people say or find tools to easily manage your dotfiles... what exactly are thry refering too? Your .config directory basically the 'AppData' for linux?
what does 'manage' them mean? make backups? would you not want to make selective backups like just your email data, etc

Hey all. Looking for suggestions.
My dot file management sucks. I’d like suggestions from anyone for things like:
- Secret management (passwords in files, SSH keys, etc.)
- Good defaults for ignoring all the crap found in $HOMEI’m aware of #chezmoi but this looks OTT.
Recommendations welcome!
I want to avoid #homemanager and #nix for the same reasons as #chezmoi.
