My oldest grandson Ryan’s intent to learn how to play electric bass has intrigued me and today I sent his dad a link to a song that has a simple bass line an 11 1/2 year-old should be able to pick up relatively easily especially for a kid as bright as he is. I told his dad from the time I first heard it when I was younger than my grandson Ryan (I was eight) I always liked the way the bass kicks in.

When I was about eight, I got in my Easter basket from the Easter bunny, aside from a shit ton of candy (which every eight year-old’s gotta have, right?), a 45 rpm single of “Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress” which obviously kicks ass. On the “B” side, though, was this gem I always felt never got the recognition a lot of us Hollies fans feel it deserved. I would years later play my Hollies B side on the air.
