Unpopular opinion. Mozilla walking back on their experiments is vital to keep firefox competative, and 'AI' in browsers is the new normal. I'd rather like to see people use Mozilla's 'AI' than Microsoft or anyone else's.
But I do hope it doesn't mean that things like mozilla relay or mozilla.social gets completely cut out over time.

I think maybe these things we took for granted shouldn't have been free after all? So now that they can't grow wildly they have to be more focused on making themselves costeffective.
Not to forget that EU law now enforces that all platforms must give a paid alternative to behaviour-marketing, it's hardly their choice to make this grand switch to offering subscription-services.

Also don't rag down on those distros who are not so community based or ideologically pure. The ecology of Linux is at it's best with a great diverse range of small-, big- and middlesized distributions, with different ideological and organizational forms.
A distro isn't bad because it doesn't 100% pander to you, and a good distro isn't ideal but just good enough at what it needs to do.

I research the navigation of online political information in everyday life, and the production of state-linked manipulation of information (#cybertrooping, #cybertroopers). Most of my research is situated in Southeast Asia (with a focus on #Malaysia, where I’m originally from), but recently studied #LGBTQ youth in Asia and the Pacific.
