PS I am not a technophobe!
I was hacking my way into Unix #PDP11 45 years ago, ran a handrolled fork of #KA9Q on #DemonInternet for a decade, wrote lots of my own software for maintaining a large pre-CMS website etc.
But the #AndroidGmailApp has me beaten. ☹️

For the old nerds in the audience, here's me in 1997 going round the Demon Internet offices asking people what their job was. Note the CRTs and tasteful Hanson poster!

When I was with #DemonInternet (back when Demon were a competent independent ISP, not a shithole Mikeysoft-as-a-disservice re-seller) I used to quietly research spam, accepting all email for which SMTP delivery was attempted. These days no ISP provides unfiltered delivery, much less SMTP. By comparison I see very little spam, and can't really do much to research it any more. I know why they do it of course - the sheer waste of resource if they didn't. Still disappointing, though.

I was idly feeding ancient paperwork into the shredder when the size of this phone bill from 2001 took me aback! #WorkingFromHome was an expensive business! £273/month and that seems to be with something called “BT SurfTime”!

(That was #DialupModem if you weren’t there!)
#InternetHistory #BritishTelecom
