Fuselage Friday 20th December 2024.G-VYGL, Airbus A330-243, Jet2, on final approach to Runway 23 Right at Manchester Airport, 26th May 2023, as seen from the junction of Ringway Road and Shadowmoss Road.
This is actually an A330-243MRTT (Multi-Role Tanker Transport) Voyager KC2, owned by a company called Air Tanker, and forms part of the RAF’s reserve fleet, but has had all the tanker equipment removed, and has been leased out to Jet2 to make some money.
It can be recalled in time of emergency and refitted to full military spec in a couple of weeks, if necessary, but in the meantime is ferrying holidaymakers around.
