Added options to pandoc-lecturenotes https://github.com/mxpiotrowski/pandoc-lecturenotes so that I can now make slides with #Deckset that look almost as… if they were made with the official stopgap PowerPoint templates.
I doubt that I'm going to use this design, though…

@mmeier My PowerPoint skills are not yet on the level they should be in my position. I mostly fall back to Deckset. This way I can just write markdown. #deckset #markdown #pretendingToStillBeTechnical

I don’t get this.
Left is #deckset, with Gill Sans Bold.
Right is Keynote. Gill Sans Bold.
The font looks like a totally different one.

I've been using #deckset heavily for many years and got curious about #iAPresenter: need some time to write down that experience but there's definitely good, bad, and ugly
at least for me it's not yet quite ready but it has a lot of interesting features -

Love the concept and execution of
@ia’s #iAPresenter as a significant leap from #Deckset and #Slideas and thus bought it.But I hate the design snobbishness of “a presentation is a story”. Not all of us present TED talks and Apple keynotes.
I need:
1. Agendas (ToCs)
2. Headers and si headers
3. Page numbering
4. Handout that doesn’t read like a bookHope future releases enhance these features for “corporate” users.

@ia I bet you're very aware of the #Deckset pricing. https://www.deckset.com/buy/ It'll be hard to charge nearly three times as much.

@felwert Both, I guess. Package development moves much faster today, which is good in some respects, but also leads to instability and incompatibilities.
The days when you could say that, in contrast to Word, you can still process your LaTeX files from 10 years ago, are definitely over. This is one reason why I switched from #TeXLaTeX #Beamer to Markdown (#Pandoc + #Deckset): I could no longer reasonably expect my slides from last semester to compile without changes.
