[ Vertica+Anchor Modeling = запусти рост своей грибницы (Avito блог??, перед?? ней HP Vertica, проектирование хранилища данных, больших данных ] - статья, 27 февраля наша дискуссия с новой командой начиналась с одного и того же «дня сурка»: — бизнес: «Аналитики работают слишком медленно!»; — аналитики: «Нам не дают работать с базой напрямую, заставляют ставить задачи дата-инженерам и ждать неделями!»; — инженеры: «Да как их пустить в центральное DWH? Вы видели их запросы? Один забытый ON в джойне — и база ложится на бок, блокируя и отчеты для CEO, и критические ETL-процессы». Этот сюжет я наблюдал везде: в классическом on-premise (Greenplum, Vertica), в модных китайских решениях (StarRocks) и даже в open-source Lakehouse-инсталляциях (Spark). Меня окончательно шокировал кейс одной огромной европейской компании по доставке еды: она сидела на Databricks, имела практически неограниченные ресурсы, но всё равно страдала от взаимных блокировок и конкуренции за ресурсы. Как должна выглядеть база, в которой аналитикам действительно можно дать полную свободу? Представьте: каждый аналитик работает в своей персональной базе данных. Он видит актуальные данные в реальном времени, но физически не делит «железо» с соседом. Фантастика? Нет, Snowflake первым доказал, что это возможно, внедрив архитектуру Multi-cluster Shared Data:

Насколько многомерным может быть многомерный точный индекс?
Вот, например, Milvius(DiskANN) рассчитан на вектора размерности до 32 768 , но это приближенный поиск. Но как насчёт поиска точного? В данной статье рассматривается работоспособность 1024 мерного индекса, хранилищем которого служит обычное B-дерево (насколько вообще может быть обычным такое дерево). Используемый диск - вполне себе “железный” старый добрый WD Purple, оперативная память сознательно ограничена 8 Гб. Можно ли что-то из этого выжать на рядовом десктопе за приемлемое время?

Версии Postgres Pro Standard 18.1.1 и - до неё - Postgres Pro Standard 18.0.1 следовали за соответственно. А - как видно из номера - Postgres Pro Enterprise 18.1.1 - перепрыгнула через ступеньку. Поэтому, если будет желание отследить изменения, унаследованные от Standard и PostgreSQL, надо сравнивать сразу с 2 версиями каждой. Мы же здесь не будем фокусироваться на формальностях и просто приведём (неполный, конечно - полный слишком велик для нашего жанра) список нового. Добавлена возможность создавать таблицы, которые разделяются на секции при помощи внешнего ключа. Внешний ключ используется как ссылка на родительскую секционированную таблицу и определяется в предложении PARTITION BY REFERENCE . Обновлены модули, в том числе BiHA . В ней много важных изменений:

Ich schätze 90% aller Datenbankanwendungen brauchen keine Spezialfunktionen. Warum setzen viele Entwickler trotzdem #Microsoft oder #Oracle ein, anstatt freie Alternativen wie #Postgresql oder #MariaDB?Das erzeugt doch weniger Abhängigkeit und spart den Kunden Lizenzgebühren.
